Hi Everyone!
I'm new to allnurses.com. My name is Jordie && I'm 19, I graduated high school in 2008. I just got my acceptance letter for the Nursing Program at my school two weeks ago. I'm really excited, but I'm kinda scared too. None of my friends were accepted into the program with me. They either didn't have a 4.0gpa or they lost points. I have a 4.0 and full points... It's a little upsetting that no one I know got in with me, I don't really have a support group now. I'm hoping to meet ppl in the nursing program, RNs or new 2010 nursing students.
Any advice or tips for the program would be greatly appreciated.
Good Luck to everyone!

I am new to the sit and nursing as well, a bit older and starting over. I just recently was accepted to a nursing program and I start on monday. Its hard starting a new program at any age, and even harder to meet new people. You will be fine, go in with an open mind and heart. I sure that you will do just fine.... good luck to you!

I've met some great friends in nursing school. Try to talk to the people that sit around you...I'm sure a lot of them feel the same way! Personally, me and my nursing friends became so close because of all the adventures of nursing school. You will meet friends. I remember I thought it would be so competitive once I got accepted into nursing school that everybody would try to out do everyone. It's not like that at all. We are like a big family! :)

You will meet people in nursing school and they will be your support system and will be able to understand exactly what you are going through. This site is awesome as well.
Best of luck to you and congrats!

I'm new also and I start my nursing program in January and I can't wait. I am I guess what they consider someone starting over as I have a BA in Economics already.
I am sure we will all be "seeing" each other again soon as we get started in our programs.
Welcome & :yeah:Best of Luck!

Like many nursing students will tell you, you will make some incredible bonds in nursing school!! My advice, Form study groups or find 1 or 2 people that you work well with the study with.. Most find it a WHOLE different way of studying so try every different method you can (reading, taking notes, making flash cards, quizzing each other, doing questions in the book) Ask questions when you don't understand something!!! Best of luck and Congrats :)
Thanks for the advice and kind words everyone! I'm looking forward to my first day of Nursing School, which is Jan 7th. I think I will form a study group, I know that what time we have classes is based on what clinical group we get put in (1-5). So, I'll form a study group with my clinical group. That is a really good idea! Thanks!
