I'm LEAVING!

Dear teachers,

You get one lunch break, one planning period and one hour where your kids are at specials and you have the classroom to yourself. If you have a burning question, sob story, or anecdote to share please feel free to come to my office during one of those times to tell me. I love (most of) you and am happy to hear about your cat's untimely death, your grandma's non-healing diabetic ulcer or the dinner party you are planning. Honestly and sincerely.

Please note that on the list of the THREE daily free periods during which you are able to come talk to me, "right after the bell rings when I am wearing my coat and sunglasses and have my keys in my hand and are walking to the front door" is not included. I may not have the luxury of getting scheduled breaks like you do, but I do have the luxury of not having lessons to plan, tests to grade or parents to call. When that bell rings, I am (barring any significant incidents) gone. I'll be back tomorrow, sitting in the same freezing office all day, ready and willing to lend an ear to your various tales.

Just not. Right. Now.

Sincerely,

The crabbiest tomato there ever was

HA ha!! I love it :roflmao:

You're about to go ketchup on them....

OMG, YES!!! This a thousand times!

Also, you get a full 30 minute lunch every single day no matter what is going on in your classroom. I get a 30 minute lunch that is uninterrupted maybe once a week, maybe- the rest of the times bites are taken in between sick kids and phone calls. I swear you know how to apply a bandaid, please do it and do not come get me, make me stop eating, go to my office, wash my hands, and apply a bandaid to a paper cut. Please and thank you!

I am fortunate, we have all school lunch. I rarely get interrupted during lunch, they are too busy eating and socializing. Jersey, I can't get the picture of a grumpy Bob the Tomato from Veggie Tales out of my mind.

I can't even leave my office for lunch. I was told that "this is how many hours you work because you don't get a lunch." BOO! I'll sign a contract for 30 less minutes if it means I can eat without a puker coming in. lol

Guys, I do love my job. But I get mean when I get hungry, like I'm sure Jersey does as well.

I'm the same way and the principal even gave me a designated lunchtime that the teachers agreed upon during a staff meeting but do the teachers stop sending me kids...nope. It's super irritating as I'm trying to close my clinic door all these kids try running in. I honestly haven't had a full 30 min lunch break EVER.

This is why I don't even bother. It's less irritating to start eating, expecting to be interrupted, rather than plan for a continuous 30 minutes and STILL get interrupted.

This is why I don't even both. It's less irritating to start eating, expecting to be interrupted, rather than plan for a continuous 30 minutes and STILL get interrupted.

I've tried both ways, especially since I was given a time to eat I'd like to actually take it. Who were they fooling here, lol.

So I usually leave my door open and try not to get vomit on my lunch or have any little hands on my food. I honestly just want a few minutes of quiet time. Sometimes I miss the quiet nights of the direct obs unit where it was just patients breathing and the monitors.
