Are you angry? Uneasy? Do you mind the change?
I think it kind of stinks to make YOU change when it is OTHER NURSSES who need a change.
I would be upset and try to fish around a little to get the scuttlebutt and get the truth - which you might actually never get because you won't know who to believe, probably.
So I guess you have to decide if you are willing to do this, should you stay or go.
I wonder why so sudden a change, why you, are they truthing or lying or what? Are they trying to tell you to leave? Are there any problems with your work or job situation that you know of?

I am uneasy about the change, because I know it is influenced by workplace politics (although I cannot prove it). Here's the deal. The new manager of the LTC unit isn't too fond of me, and the manager of the rehab unit isn't too fond of one of her own nurses. I think this was a 'convenience swap'.Are you angry? Uneasy? The LTC nurse manager even expressed a desire to terminate my employment, but she could never find any probable cause to do so because I always do my work in a timely manner. The manager is very young, and this is her first job out of LVN school. I only have one write-up in my personnel file, and it was from last year. I have never called in sick, never miss work, and always perform my duties above the minimum standard.
There are always two sides to the story, but I am not a meddler, troublemaker, tattle-tale, complainer, or agitator. I tend to keep to myself.
Why did they do this instead of asking for volunteers? Or firing the nurses that "aren't doing their jobs"? Why do you have to pay for their mistakes, because you are a good nurse? I would investigate this. So not fair.
On the other hand, maybe you will like it, being away from that manager who doesn't like you. That can be so stressful.
This stinks and I have seen this sort of thing before. You have choices, you can stay or you can go. You also have choice about how long you stay and when and if you go. So you can try it and leave if it does not work. You have a right to be mad but I have never known an institution to back off of a really bad policy. They make mistakes like this all the time and almost always carry through on it to the bitter end. It would be nice if they would realize they are making a mistake and consider the feelings of the people they are offending but that would be extremely unusual. Healthcare managment does not usually have that much sense.

Let me start by saying that I've been employed at this particular facility for a little over one year. I was hired onto the LTC unit, and have had the same 18 patients all this time.
I received 2 phone calls on my answering machine today, both of which were from my nurse managers at work. I returned the call, and was informed that I was being transferred to the rehab unit. This change is effective on Saturday. Of course, I asked why. The nurse manager over the rehab unit stated, "Some of our nurses need a change, so we moved some people around. It's nothing against you, because I respect you, and have always liked your work. In fact, I specifically selected you to work on my unit. Some of my other nurses aren't doing their jobs, and we feel they need a change. Hopefully this works out for the best."
My biggest concern is the unprofessionalism involved with involuntarily moving people around. I am sure that some politics are unfolding backstage.
