I just went and got my cardiac cath patient fried chicken and fries from the cafeteria.

:jwdrp:

Le sigh. Hope they don't sue me later for trying to ensure job security XD

Taitter

Well, why the heck do the hospital cafs provide such horrible sickening and purely lethal food for patients and staff?

Job security?

You are not a bad nurse, just a devils advocatel Lets hope that your cath patients arteries were cleared nicely for the meantime. Slap on the wrist now proceed with joy.

Repeat this"I am a good nurse I am!"

lol I was being more sarcastic than anything, but yeah I came back and went "good golly I just fed my patient the crap that got him in here!"

On a side note he just got off his bedrest and the first thing he said was "I feel great maybe I will work out more! Now, which way is the Coke machine?"

Oye vey!

That's typical of the patient nowadays, not changing any dietary or lifestyle habits. Willing to have a cardiac cath and perhaps even open heart surgery, taking drugs, etc. if it means they can still have their fried chicken.

You have to admit though, its tough to be good to yourself when you are feeling back to normal.

We are quite the creatures of comfort and habit...though not as much as my two cats. :p

mmmmmm that sounds much better than my turkey sandwich and crackers/cheese......a better question is why does the cafeteria close at 7pm when shifts start at 5, and you can't even start rounding on people til like 5:30....it's a cold day in heck when I can get down there!

Ok. I thought that post was one of the funniest things I've read in awhile! Especially w/ the avatar!

At my hospital, they bring in a HUGE platter of donuts every morning (for employees). :icon_roll

The docs are really getting too smooth with these caths. I had a patient a few months ago that said " wow, this was the easiest one yet, forget about diet or exercise, I'll just come in here every few years instead" He said that he was joking, but I detected a definite element of truth in his tone. Scares me, because this was a young guy, (Im thinking 50's) already on his third cath with stents, and there are limits to what the docs can do.
