besides being an RN/LPN..what are some other good paying health care jobs that you wouldn't mind doing

Specializes in Ortho, Neuro, Detox, Tele.

I would be IRON MAN! Or a counselor for youth/troubled teens....or a DON in a MI facility...without the DON hassles....

Specializes in Trauma, Teaching.

Be a stay at home mom. (too late now!:lol2:)

Write really really good books like Anne McCaffrey and Mercedes Lackey. ('course it would help if I was good at it).

Travel the world and take pictures of absolutely everything. And write/publish books about all these places celebrating life.

I'm looking forward to being a grandma someday :yeah: (but they'd all better finish college first!)

Be a book reviewer so I'd get paid to sit around and read really good books like McCaffrey's and Lackey's. (After all, I only have 17 bookcases in the house, I'm sure I could fit a few more in.:D)

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

I'd love to work in the privacy of my home, far away from the abusive public. It would be a dream come true to have some autonomy without being supervised, and be able to awaken without the blaring sound of an alarm clock.

Specializes in OB.
Specializes in all things maternity.

Well, I love teaching, writing and photography. If I could find a good job to be able to do all three I'd be take it in a :redbeathe

:saint:

Specializes in Trauma ICU, Surgical ICU, Medical ICU.

i'd totally be an exotic dancer, too bad you cant do it for 40 years lol

Lawyer, librarian, horticulturist/landscaper, owner of a number of businesses and have managers and employees work them for me, beach bum, wilderness guide, surfer, designer of a successful something very expensive and sought after, writer/biographer, Queen of England, wealthy socialite, shelterer of homeless animals, all of the above.:whe!: Did I mention lottery winner/independently wealthy so I could do whatever I really felt like doing?

:weathersunsmall:

:anmllvr:

Specializes in HOSPICE,MED-SURG, ONCOLOGY,ORTHOPAEDICS.

When I grow up I want to be a tornado/storm chaser. Second would be a genealogist. I love my job, but not sure if healthcare would be something I would continue to do if I won the lottery tomorrow--all the money in the world won't change it, it will take a nation:nurse:.

In healthcare? Probably Rad/ultrasound tech.

I'd be a cocktail waitress and this local family owned restaurant with a really funky 1960s/70s lounge. I worked there during nursing school. Its 5 mins from my house, right on the ocean, and the tips were FAT. Not to mention you get to watch people in their 60s and 70s get down all night!!! It NEVER felt like work and no one's life was at stake...

Specializes in Jack of all trades, and still learning.

Thanks for posting this thread - I've had some pretty negative thoughts about nursing lately; not what we do, love the job!, but how we are treated by our patients, and the law...

I'd love to be a plumber I think. I'm not afraid of getting dirty...I'm a nurse! And here in Oz they make a fortune, in comparison to nurses.

Specializes in CMSRN.

I have a few ideas.

-One would be a bartender, but not just any bartender. More like the ones from Coyote Ugly.

-Something messy, like from the show Dirty Jobs.

-Home restoration, I love to watch This Old House

I am not one to sit at a desk, nor do I feel I need to dress for success.

I like to get to the nitty gritty and get messy and do physical work.

I guess nursing fits that too.
