If you could no longer be a nurse?...

Published

Hello, I like to share conversations with you all that come up at work, because you always come up with interesting answers. The questions of the day was "If you could no longer be a nurse, what would you do?" I had to think about this for awhile. I love taking care of people and helping them, so I guess my next choice would be teaching. What about all of you? If you woke up tomorrow and you were no longer a nurse? What would you do? And what would you want to be? :chuckle

I would work in a bookstore stocking books. Nothing else. Matter of fact, I'd do it now if it paid the bills! :specs: BTW, this if my first post. This is a great site. :yelclap:

My passion is writing poetry, stories, true life help books, etc., so that is what I would do full time as long as I had the money to pay my bills while doing it. It takes a long time - if ever - to make it as a writer. I'd love to act in some movies, too......like on Lifetime Original on t.v. where true life stories are re-enacted. With all the drama I've lived in my life, I could play a lot of different roles. :specs:

I'm at the end of my nursing career anyway. I just have that feeling it's all over for me in nursing, so I'm seriously contemplating other career choices.

Like Tweety...I like social work as well.

Then there's being Donald Trumps next wife! :roll :roll :roll

:balloons: Hi Sasha...welcome to Allnurses! I love books...especially the smell of new books. Ahhhhh....fresh, clean, wonderful books! I am actually looking for non nursing jobs, and working in a bookstore is definitely on my list. No, it won't pay all the big bills that I have accrued, but it will be something I have a passion in being involved with....plus, I'd be making more than I make now. :lol2:

I have been out of work for the past 2 months due to medical issues.

I hope at some point I will be able go back to nursing. Due to the circumstances

I'm not sure what I will be able to do. I am concentrating on doing all that I can

to improve my health. Time to take care of myself.

I guess as time goes on I will know what I can and can't do. I have enjoyed

nursing for almost 33 years but I have other interests as well.

I plan on sewing , I like to design chilldrens clothes. I have an eight month old

grandson he will be my little model. I also like to do crafty type things.I am

working on scrapbooks, its very relaxing. I also like to work in my flower garden

but will have to see how much I can actually do.

I really enjoy being a wife ,mother,grandmother.

I have been spending a lot of time improving our diet, there are a lot of great

internet sites.for recipes.I enjoy cooking for my family.

I want to do volunteer work,my church feeds the hungry every day,I need to

be there helping out.

I plan on spending a certain amount of time on my computer,I have so much t

learn

I try to keep a positive attitude and focus on what I CAN do instead of what

I can't do.

I second that one. I actually almost started that before deciding to go into nursing. My father is one, always been around him working on cars and I've learned a lot over the years. I love taking things apart, putting them together again and figuring out why it's not working and trying to fix it.

Yeah cars are kind of like people ya know? Like you said... figuring out why it's not working and trying to fix it. Kind of like people and their illnesses and what we do to help them get better...

Specializes in Psych, Med/Surg, Home Health, Oncology.

Oh yes, I'd just love to win the Lotto!! Then I could possibly retire completely & just laze around the beach or something equally meaningless!!

However, since that has a low probability, I'd like t o do something like open a book store or llingere shop!!

If I was young again, I'd be a Vet or a Cop.

aseriously, tho, when I retire in the near future. I'll probably volunteer somewhere.
