Hey All,
I think the conversations we have on here are fantastic and entertaining. I think the people in these forums are fantastic and entertaining. 1 thing that gets a little frustrating is when I'm reading through a thread, and someone decides to write a novel in 1 post. It's like this interruption in a really great debate...point, counterpoint, point, counterpoint, and then a filibuster. Can we keep it to 1 or 2 paragraphs when we're on a hot topic? Thoughts are welcome. Thanks.

I suppose, but sometimes some subjects are very detailed and involved. Not sure how to cram that into 1-2 paragraphs.
I do see your point though

I agree that long posts are annoying, but all I do is simply skip it. I don't think there should be a limit, that's just silly. Everyone should be able to talk for as long as they want to.

If it's broken into paragraphs, no problem.

It is why I try to be succinct. I hate long winded posts as well.

I'm going to agree with jrwest here. Some subjects just require longer answers. Some threads have the OP asking many questions, or complicated ones that can't just be short, one liners responses.
I also agree that paragraphs vs. wall of text makes ALL the difference with some posts.

I'm fine with long posts, but I get annoyed when someone quotes it.... especially if it was the post before and they are only addressing one sentence in it.

I'm guilty of this. (well, duh, look at this post:cheeky:)
But I do it for a reason - I may think that I'm posting right under the post I'm referencing, but someone else could beat me to it. That way, if there's a post or two between me and the one I'm referencing, at least others know what I'm talking about.
And for the most part, I do erase the main body of a long quote and only leave the sentence or two that I'm referring to.

Oh I don't mind the long ones. Lots of them are from some very stressed and miserably anxious people. You do need to let people get things down through their tears... as others have said, one can always click away and read something else. The only thing that tends to bother me is when several posters will copy/quote the original post in entirety and then comment on it. I think all one needs to do is to skip that and just respond, or, start by addressing their post to the OP or someone else on the thread with a sentence or two that prompted them to reply if the response is specific to a line or two.
