Should I be a nurse: I am going to scream! How in the HE double hockey sticks are we supposed to know what is right for you?? I am sorry if I sound rude not my intent, but it just makes me wonder, do you have to have all your decisions made by another person if so you ARE going to have a hard time being a burse. I am a EMT and if I had to ask someone to do XYZ before I do what I know needs to be done, I would have a poor patient outcome. Sorry but this is getting old
My favorites:
Is nursing school hard?
How is nursing school?
I have a 2.0 GPA, what is my chances of getting in a nursing school?
I dropped anatomy-1 twice, and finally passed it with a C. I plan to apply for nursing schools.
Student: why do we have to take all this anatomy, micro, math, computer classes for nsg school? They have nothing to do with being a nurse!!
Topic: Great news! don't worry about getting a 4.0 for nursing schools guys. There is this xyzhdas school in the middle of nowhere who accepts low GPA's.
I failed by 1 point only because of the final! I can't believe my instructor didn't do anything to help me so I could pass! help! what else can I do to get my instructor?!!
I got into a nursing school with 2.5 GPA?!! who cares about NCLEX pass rate, right?
I cant pas diz nclex, i treid five timez already im ready to giv up. y do we hav to take it stupid test haz nottin to do wit being a nurse!
Along that line, one of my favourites in the Canadian section: "I've failed Boards 3 times. I don't understand why they won't let me rewrite a 4th or 5th time. Nurses are so unfair! Just because I can't pass doesn't mean I won't be a good nurse."
If you fail the CRNE 3 times, that's pretty much it. That's the limit.

Gads- at least you HAVE a limit.... I had one coworker who had taken it at least that many times (and was working as a tech- she did a good job with that). She finally passed, and had some good skills- but she hated doing anything "mean" to the kids.... well...that's what the "RN" buys a person- the person in the room designated to be 'mean' helping the kid live. None of us liked it, but she'd dump kids that she had previously been all over when they were admitted. Then, she'd be in there visiting periodically- like go back to your assignment, or take this kid.
If someone died in the family, they will usually grant a 4th and final attempt. Otherwise its 3 attempts. After that, you must take a refresher course. They are very strict, as it should be.
Yeah- I absolutely agree :) My class had %100 PASS rate on the NCLEX. I was horrified that I got any wrong; I was way above the minimum to pass-but I was disappointed in myself.

I remember when my nursing school had it's pass rates on the NCLEX drop below 95%, and it really hit the fan...instructors fired, program revamped, quarterly exit exams put in place. After the past couple of years, my involvement as an alumnus has really dropped, especially after many of the old instructors I knew quit, so I'm not so much "in the know".
Helpzors! I got kicked out of nursing school because I violated just about every patient safety rule there is. Why does my instructor pick on me? What should I do? I was thinking about reporting my instructor to the Board of Nursing and also reporting her to the dean of my school. Please help! I love nurses and the only thing I've ever wanted to be in life was a nurse!!!
lol I have only been employed for 3 weeks and I have a few patients who can do both of these in the mater of minutes. One second they are the sweetest most grateful humans around and the next they are ticked off at you because you will not give them candy to eat, never mind that their blood sugar on a good day is 250. (oh but she is not a diabetic, she has low blood sugar, yeah and I am the Easter Bunny).
You see, they are "special". They are hypoglycemic, if they go below 300.
And, they just know that their sugar registers on the hospital machine 200 pts above what it "really, actually" is.
How dare you question this?
(right up there with my bipolar sister's comment that her MD lets her "adjust" her meds to let her have a few drinks, and would give her script for pot if it was legal in that state........sure he would)

Besides- it really wasn't my fault! And I meant well - I was just so busy that day! My instructor was just looking for reasons to fail me because she doesn't like that I'm talkative/quiet/male/tall/short/pretty/smarter than her.

Do people REALLY think that nursing licenses are going to get yanked into thin air over something that is considered "undesirable, but no threat to life or limb" ??? :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke:
