When the US government legalizes weed at the federal level will nurses be allowed to smoke weed?

Likely not. We are still subject to the rules and regulations of the BON, not just the law, and we are subject to drug testing.

It would take a lot of convincing and lobbying. It would require better testing methods to ensure individuals were not on the job under the influence. There are many, many threads throught AN regarding this topic that may have better responses to guide you through this querey.

Smoking weed is not all that. Why are people so obsessed with it?

I imagine it will be treated like alcohol. Some professions make their own rules- pilots can't take Benadryl within so many hours of working.

Not when, but if. I doubt that you'll see marijuana decriminalized at the federal level for some time.

Thank you! People act like it's the Second Coming. Also, it REALLY stinks. I hate walking by people who are smoking it- just when things were getting better with fewer cigarette smokers in public...

This....my husband smokes a pipe (legal pipe tobacco) and I hate it because there is so much we can't do (without jumping through a lot of hoops). Find a hotel room, a vacation rental, sit outside a coffee house, he can't smoke in a park, can't smoke in a car if children are in the car, many apartment complexes and condos don't allow it, etc. It is so limiting. I'm not complaining, I think all those laws and restrictions are good.
We still do "these" things, he often says it's okay he won't bring his pipe or he'll just smoke in the car, but it's still a hassle.
I don't know why anyone would take up smoking of any product just to find out you can't do it anywhere.

I don't get it either. It's supposed to be non-addictive, but it seems like so many people are willing to risk so much to partake.
I think so as well, and I am hopeful that all facilities follow that kind of standard. It's the fairest and most constitutional option for sure.
It has nothing to do with the constitution. Employers have every right to require certain things of their employees, including being tobacco (and marijuana) free.
