Nursing is a 24 hour a day job, if it's not an emergency then it will get done on the next shift. There is no way whatsoever that someone should not have time to use the bathroom. If they claim that, then they are self imposing it upon themselves. And also, perhaps they could benefit from some time management strategies.
I agree with the sentiment that it's more so about MAKING the time to use the bathroom. I must admit that Sometimes, though, I just get so caught up in what I'm doing I don't ever feel the urge to pee until the shift is almost over. But I have the urge I go ASAP.

I often get caught up so I just end up "forgetting" to pee. I'm getting better with it though! The main problem is that the bathroom is so far away it's really inconvenient. If they had one in each of the pods in our ER, I would have no problem!
If they patients are super critical and everyone is drowning just as much, I sometimes really can't run off to go to the bathroom. Those super unstable patients make it impossible. Not just the hands on stuff, but charting all that hands on stuff.
I'm definitely making more of an effort to "schedule" pee breaks in!

I'm a little perturbed that some of my colleagues claim they haven't the time to pee. Let me just say, no matter how busy a shift, I ALWAYS have time to pee. If you can't take 3 minutes out of your shift to pee, YOU need reexamine your priorities.
