I think it is time for the MCC hopefuls to start count down

:redbeatheOkay MCC hopefuls, we are under the 45 day mark. Hopefully within 30 days we will at least have our ranking!!:redbeathe

42 days until letter day.....how are you feeling?

well its better to know they will be late than to keep checking the mail like a crazy person! We will find out soon enough!

Last year we received our GPA/HESI letters on April 5th.

So you can relax for a couple of days...... yeah right....

May I ask what your GPA/HESI was last year and where you ranked? If you don't want to post it here, could you PM me? Thanks!!

(Or you can ignore me all together - that's fine too! I understand some people are sensitive about grades, and I respect your right to tell me to buzz off ;))

Grrrrrr..... I really hope that the acceptance/denial letters make it here by April 27th. My tuition for a summer class is due the next day, which I do not get since the class does not start until June.....but I do not want to pay money out for a class if I am not even in the program.

I really doubt there was 2000, there were 1000 at the HESI test and who ever reapplied, but I doubt that many are re-applying and some have not moved on to other schools/programs. Maybe 1300-1500 I guess. MCC is going to lose a lot of HESI money next year since they are changing that you have to take pre-reqs first and the pre-req classes are so hard to get into.

Hmmmm 1000 Hesi takers each year X $55..... I'll let you do the math, that is a ton of cash each year. If only the people taking the HESI each time around was allowed to apply that is 840 students who paid and did not get in. Since they are changing it I would not take the HESI unless I was real close to being done, knowing my luck they will add more to it like they are doing next year and I have to pay to retake it again.

:banghead: I am feeling this also :banghead:

Geez Giggy,

Was it really that late? No wonder I had half a heart attack when it came! I thought it was ......The Big One **......(hahaha)!!!!!!!!! That letter had us all fooled. And unhappy I might add.

**Not to worry folks...I am merely delirious from doing too much reading/studying for my nursing classes. I will be fine in approximately 1 year and 45 days and counting :)

But wait Shannonmarie...

What you don't know is that you have to take a midterm HESI after your second semester of nursing classes, which you have to pay for yourself.

It is NOT the same HESI, this one is basically "how much have you learned" HESI and we are told not to study for it -which I am following their advice-

AND you also have to take a final HESI which you also have to pay for which is a test of what you have learned and you have to study for it and you have to pass it or remediate. It is an indicator of how well you will do on the NCLEX.

Once again...not the same HESI that you just took, just given by the same company which is why it's called HESI.

Don't worry, you can get a full refund on the class if you drop by a certain date, so you might as well just pay for it!

also, maybe the 2000 applicants is for ALL selective admissions programs (OT, PTA, RT, etc)...maybe they mean 2000 selective admissions applications and not just nursing. At least there are over a thousand people just as worried as we are about these letters!

I am totally cool with paying to take them once I am in the program.:D

I just hate that I paid $55 to take the HESI this year and if I do not get in I have to take it again next year since they are adding the A & P to it. Normally I think the HESI is good for 2 or more years but everyone that took it this time has to redo it and pay more money.

The NET at Baker is free for both times you take it, which is cool since you can take it twice in 1 year. After a while the money just starts piling up on all the extra fee's. I am really poor right now and I have to pay all of the extra out of pocket even classes/books at MCC because my financial aid will not pay for 2 schools at once.:(

I was hoping I would know before so I would not have to go through a refund process.:banghead: I agree that maybe they meant all selective admissions since they have to rank everyone in those programs.

So it's been around 45 days since the deadline for applying to the selective admissions programs. You would think they would have been figuring out GPA's and ranking scores as they were sending out the completion letters. It doesn't make sense to wait until the last minute. I know I had everything in before January 1st, and I'm sure a lot of other people had their requirements sent in early too, so it doesn't make sense that they would wait to start the process. I know they couldn't finish until everyone had everything in, but an early start would make sense. Even if there are 2,000 students, how long does it take to figure out the GPA's for the transfer students? I don't get it. I'm banging my head with the rest of you, but I'm saying some bad words too. :spbox: :hdvwl:

Corazon, I think you're right about the 2,000 total people applying for selective admissions (not limited to nursing.) Like I said, the lady that I spoke to was very gruff and brushed me out of there ASAP.

I don't know why the hell they decided to wait until the last minute either. I honestly think that they did it on purpose because they know they have the power to make or break so many peoples futures! :chuckle

Huskies, I'm right there with you. I've had bad words since this whole fiasco of waiting began - enough to make a sailor blush! :smiley_ab

LOL... Toxic... you don't know how close I was to getting that fruit basket today! I was trying to recruit others in the Learning Center... they thought it was a great idea too... nobody "brave'" enough to do it :chuckle. Or maybe they thought I was a fruit loop....

When I drove by after class tonight, the lights were still on in the counseling offices... and I thought, maybe they need some coffee to keep them up to finish these letters....:p

I have no hubby, so unfortunately I have to wait.... I didn't get any letters from MCC today, but I did receive my "Save on Everything" booklet! :yeah:Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy... now I can save some money if I need my air ducts cleaned! :smokin:
