:redbeatheOkay MCC hopefuls, we are under the 45 day mark. Hopefully within 30 days we will at least have our ranking!!:redbeathe
42 days until letter day.....how are you feeling?
I did not look at the MCC classes/labs/clinicals but Bakers are all over the place. Most of the classes/labs are 9 am start but the clinicals are 7am.
It looks like there is 7 different clinical classes at Baker, the first one may be at a nursing home. Does any one know at MCC if they only go to hospitals for clinicals or do the put you in hospital, nursing homes, and private practice?
EDIT: Here are the hospitals listed in the MCC catalog, I am not from this state so I am not sure what some are. I know the main hospitals, but some are other sites.
HFMCLN
BMTTRO - Beaumont Troy
MCHOSP - Is this St Johns Macomb or Mount Clemens?
SJHNHD
CHLDNH - Childrens?
BMTROY - Beaumont Troy again?
HFMWRN -Henry Ford Warren- 10 mile
HFKING
HFMMTC
HFCOTG
BONSCH - Bon Secours
SJHNHM
Here are the times listed, depends on site/class.
7 am -2:55 pm
2 pm - 9:55 pm
3 pm 10:55 pm
** Does anyone know about the PHED pre-req? It can be anything over 2000, it doesn't need to be the one with the CPR right?**
What I've heard is that it doesn't matter what PHED class it is, as long as it is over 2000, but you have to be CPR certified throughout the nursing program. That's why they recommend the classes that offer CPR certification. I took PHED-2070, Prevention, Intervention, and Treatment. It was an easy class and gave me the certification.
As for the hospital's it looks like the one's you're missing are all St. Johns and Henry Ford hospitals. Does anyone know how placement for clinicals works? Is it a first come first serve choice, or does it go by ranking?
BMTTRO= Beaumont troy, BMTROY= Beaumont royal oak. BONSCH= bon secours, CHLDNH= childrens, CRITNH= crittenton, HRCOTG= henry ford cottage, HFHDET= henry ford detroit, HFMCLN= henry for macomb (clinton twp), HFMCLN= henry ford macomb mt clemes, MCHOSP= mt clemens regional medical center, SJHNHD= St JOhn main, SJHNHM= St john macomb oakland (12 and hoover) HFMWRN =Henry Ford Warren, and others.
Really guys, almost any question asked here is available on the school website!
Registration is online but not fun. The system is always overloaded. It starts at midnight, so you wait up to register for the clinical of your choice, but good luck getting through. Then, even if you are so lucky, they have the right to change to time/day/location. You can do it in person or over the phone as well, but that doesn't start until 8am the next day, so the clinical you want would probably be taken if you wait. Have fun!
But it's so much more fun to see your answers :)
I have tried the Macomb website though, because I do have a lot of questions. Whenever I try to go somewhere besides the main page I get a system error message. I've had this problem for the past 2 years. I keep trying, and I still get the error. I have given up
Thanks! I looked on the website and could not find the clinical sites except for the abbreviations.

"szyman, for the list of labs and clinicals, are there any other days to be in class or is the rest done online? I thought it would be a lot more in class than that. I was told by someone in my Micro class that most of the 1500's were online, but she wasn't sure about later in the course. I'm trying to figure out what to do with my kids when I'm in class (see I'm being positive) so if the classes are only a few days a week, I won't have to worry about daycare or babysitters too much."
Lovemyhuskies,
I'm not sure where the person in your micro class got her information. This is not an online program at all. You have to go to class. Some of the instructors might post your grades and a couple things to print up online, but that is it. Sometimes class is one day a week, sometimes it is two days a week. For example in the 1500 and 1600s both classes were on monday, so it was 9-11 and 12-2 on monday only, plus lab/clinical. For others you have one class at a time twice a week. So say the 1700s could be monday and thursdays 9-12 plus clinicals. It's a mix throughout the program. If you go to Macomb's schedule of courses, you can look at everything offered for the past couple years see what the schedules look like. Clinicals either run late or start pretty early so I hope your babysitters are flexible!
