I Ran Out Of Time On Nclex

HEY GUYS! YESTERDAY I SAT THE TORTUROUS NCLEX RN, WAS SO HOPEFUL THAT THE COMPUTER WOULD SHUT DOWN BY 100. IT JUST KEPT GOING AND GOING. WOULD YOU ALL BELIEVE I RAN OUT OF TIME AT 249. THE QUESTIONS WERE NOT THE PROBLEM, IT WAS THOSE DREADFUL ANSWERS. THEY WERE NOTHING LIKE THE PRACTICE ONES ON THE CDs OR FROM THE BOOKS. I GOT THE WORST EXAM EVER WRITTEN. I LEFT CRYING, I COULD NOT BE COMFORTED. I SEARCHED THE THREADS FOR ANYONE WHO RAN OUT OF TIME AND ALL STATED THEIR COMPUTER STOPPED AT A NUMBER, NO ONE ELSE RAN OUT OF TIME. I FELT LIKE THE BIGGEST FAILURE. I KNEW THERE WAS NO HOPE FOR ME SO I GOT UP EARLY AND STARTED STUDYING WITH THE INTENTION OF RETAKING IN 6 WEEKS.

GUYS, LATER IN THE AM I CHECKED THE BOARDS WEBSITE TO CONFIRM MY FAILURE. I PASSED, I PASSED, I PASSED. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!! I PASSED!!!!!

I AM WRITING THIS THREAD AS ANOTHER REINFORCEMENT THAT YOU CAN PASS AT ANY STAGE FROM 75 UP. NEVER GIVE UP. ALSO WANT TO SEND A BIG THANK YOU TO SUZANNE 4 FOR THE NOTES AND INSISTING THAT WE READ THOSE RATIONALES. THE RATIONALES WERE MORE IMPORTANT, IN MY CASE, THAN THE GETTING THE QUESTIONS RIGHT.

I FEEL SO RELIEVED. THANKS GUYS FOR ALL YOUR NCLEX EXPERIENCES, THEY GAVE ME COURAGE AND CHEERED ME UP WHEN I WAS SO DOUBTFUL.

I know that this thread is years old, but to add to the words of ecouragement, my friend ran out of time @ 200ish, and got the green light to start taking care of patients three days later. It can be done. If you reach 265, or run out of time after #75, your last 60 questions are reviewed, and if they are ALL above the "passing standard", you pass.

Oh, Congradulations!!!!!! As I was reading this I almost started to cry. I took my test yesterday and I have been so worried about if I passed. My weekend before the nclex was horrible. I had something horrible happen between two of my children and I have been clouded ever since. I couldn't stop thinking about my kids during the test. I hope I passed but I am exstatic for u. JOB WELL DONE

How much time does it allow you now? When i took it (in '94, first year on the computer), it was 5 hours.

Six hours now. But, they bumped up the minimum passing standard a bit also.. don't know when they enacted it though.

Took mine nclex-rn today. Took my sweet time. Two hours went by and I'm on question 65. I was a bit overconfident that I would just be taking 75 questions. But then I thought about it. And, I realized that if I have to do 150 or 200 then I'm screwed! Pick up the pace! So I started panicing, and rushing... but I got to 75. Whew! Hopefully I passed!

I just took my NCLEX today and felt aweful!! I did about 250 thinking that the questions would would end at anytime, but it DIDN'T I think I might have even rushed through the last couple. From your experience, did you feel toward the end of the test that it was easy. I felt they just get harder and harder since my brain wasn't working by then I'm really crossing my fingers....

I read this thread while anxiously awaitng my results...for those that feel like crap after taking the exam and you run out of time... there is hope.. my time ran out at 262 questions... i felt like i was 100% on my last 7 questions so i wanted to end on a good note... i let my time run out with 2 min to go. i could have actually finished and did all 265...

come to find out theres different rules for max # questions and time ran out!!

I automatically assumed i failed when my time ran out! but nope got my result and passed.. good luck :)

your thread will be nothing but and inspiration to everyone that leaves their nclex-rn testing center feeling like a failure.

now we all know that even if the test ends because you have run out of time you can pass the nclex-rn!!! no matter how bad things may appear when you walk out the testing center door...no matter how "down and out" you may feel about the way you tested....the ability to pass is there!!

while it is only a natural, human instinct, to think/feel negatively after sitting for the nclex, we must just "believe" in the powers above and in ourselves...that we can do it! ...and we can!!!...
