I took the nclex this august 2015 and did the pvt, problem is i did it 30mins after my exam, i didnt know about the 24hr rule. They charged me 200 bucks. Is it certain that i have failed?
It has been addressed throughout the forum that the advice to change the expiration date in order to prevent a charge is a poor one. This is because while Pearson Vue typically does not accept credit cards with expired account numbers (as a means of protecting THEM, not YOU), they are under no obligation to refuse those payment submissions.A business that takes an account that is expired takes on the risk that the account really IS no longer valid, and no money will be paid to them. HOWEVER, if the account IS valid (the card is good, regardless of what the date says), then they can and most certainly DO push that charge right through.
The reason people become so testy after seeing the countless "it worked for me right after the test, all you have to do is THIS...." posts, is that WE ALSO SEE the posts and PMs of people who got charged for registrations they will never use because they PASSED. For people who were so unable to control themselves that they waited 30 minutes to do the PVT, had a test that was "on the fence" so to speak, and at THAT MOMENT it was a fail. They either got charged, or a card declined message. But AFTER that, during the time the candidate should have SAT ON HIS HANDS AND WAITED, the QA review determined the test to be a 'pass' and the person now is either out $200 or had only been freaking out for days or weeks because they thought they failed (based on the stupidity of a knee-jerk PVT submission immediately after they tested).
See the problem coming to bear?
Hey I agree you should wait for quick results of your state allows it. But if you write a post about the PVT there's going to be a million and one different opinions about the subject and how it worked or didn't work for that very individual. Like I said I was only giving my personal experience and stated what I went through with the PVT and meant no harm by it only that it worked for me both times I took the NCLEX. I also never used a card that had enough on it to get charged for the $200 but never had a negative experience which I'm guessing is just luck.
I have no problem asking for refund when no service was provided and that's regardless of what the "refund policy" says.I had this problem with an airline company not to long ago. They cancelled the flight and didn't want to refund me ... Just give me a credit. I went through my credit card company and got my money back with no problem.

But that is completely different than what is happened when people do the PVT.
Do people not get gift cards for their birthdays?
I get not being able to control yourself, but why are people using cards that have $200 credit on them? Overconfidence? After NCLEX, I don't know how people can be confident they passed haha
Also, I would guess that AN is a big resource for learning about the pvt so it doesn't make sense that people are still losing money. It's been a year since they changed the billing system, so at this point there really should be a minimal amount of casualties, right? Yet it keeps coming up...
What if the pvt topic was banned from AN altogether? (With a change to the TOS saying you owe AN $200 for bringing it up! Just kidding) Then, it wouldn't be anyone's responsibility to warn/tell cautionary tales about their horrible experiences. And then, maybe people wouldn't be so brave with their credit.
That seems unfair given that Pearson Vue warns them at least twice there are no refunds.
It is unfair that Pearson Vue would take your money and not refund it if you did indeed pass and no longer need to take exam. There should be a grace period to allow for results to come in. Since there is none and they are quick to take your money again , I'm all for getting your money back by any means possible.

No it's not unfair. People should just act like grownups and STOP doing the stupid PVT. Then there wouldn't be all of this angst.
Gad, I cannot wait until they fix this glitch or just start taking everyone's money so nobody does it anymore.

You need to read some posts by RNsRWe. She explains it beautifully as to why you can't get your money back. If I find it, I'll post it.

Results are available 48 hours post test for a lot less than $200 if your BoN participates. Only $7.95, free if your BoN posts your license earlier!
You aren't paying for an exam but a registration fee. Many conferences charge a registration fee and you are out of luck if you don't show up. Forget to go to your NCLEX as scheduled? You're out $200.
There never was a case. It was a nice, fun debate on an Internet forum.I think you cannot be legally bound if something is found to be illegal. (Accepting payment for not rendering goods or services is illegal... I think it could be argued)
Correct .... you can not be legally held to an illegal contract.

Yeah usually that's the case I know from my experience after failing the first time. Best of Luck though.
