Tomorrow is my own commencement. I have finally completed bu Bachelor's Degree in Public Health (many of you know that Nursing School starts this summer, joys of being an unlicensed clinical professional).
I am so overwhelmed I feel tearful.
My family is not really organizing themselves well, I am stressed out classes that start in two weeks, so I don't have that sense of relief that I am done.
I don't feel proud of me, and I don't feel like my parents are proud either. I feel like a burden. My sister went to Nursing School right out of high school, doing everything "right" and I feel like that has shaded the perspective on my achievement for us all.
And then! Then Mother's Day is Sunday. I am a mom, and I am anticipating more obligations than celebrations. As it is we are hosting a friend of my son's for an overnight.
I don't even know you but i want to say i love you.
You are being hard on yourself and i can see that you want approval from family but ultimately you should approve yourself.
But i'm good at giving advice and not following it myself. I didn't go straight into nursing school after high school and I am not super young. I just got my AA and I'm 27. I do have plans to get my bachelors. I have the same mentality as you. But as support I can tell you that you are pushing forward to lift yourself up and that is awesome despite the lack of support you may feel from your family.
I hope my small words help. Sorry i got a littler personal but i can def relate.
much love and congrats
Hugs from me too.
I could not imagine juggling my family, a job and school. I have a hard enough time keeping things straight as it is. Your family will get organized because there wan't be another good option. Stand proud for what you accomplished, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, it's hurtful and difficult, but in the long run it does not take away from what you have accomplished. Happy Mother's day and Congratulations!!!!

You did so much for you and your family, sacrificed your time and life for school and you achieved your goal! If you aren't proud of yourself, then I'll be for you! Congratulations and Happy Mother's Day!
