I m in big trouble! I think I failed my drug screen

Here's the scoop. I was told by another nurse that the facility I work in (I work agency) didn't do pre employent Urinalysis drug screens. Now, I m an occasional pot smoker(never before work. usually about 3x a month), I don't drink, I don't do any hard core drugs. SO anyway, to my surprise, when I went to the physical on Monday... they drew labs, xrays and did a Urinalysis. In about 2 hours I have to go in and get the update of the physical and test results... Guess what? I know they're gonna find thc in my urine. Now, I m not only looking at definitely not getting this job but I might even be turned in to the state boards. I m screwed. I didn't sleep at all last night. My wife's panicked and so am I. There's nothing I can do now. I don't consider myself an addict in any way shape of form. some people drink a couple beers, some do a couple puffs once in a while. Had I been smarter about it, i would have abstained from it.... but being gullible and stupid.. I didn't. God help me!I smoked the day before the test. lesson learned.

if they didnt tell you they were doing a drug test, and the urine wasnt obtained under proper conditions....but really as a nurse you werent aware that this could happen at any time????

frankly i dont think they should be done without cause, but the rules is the rules!

Everyone knows when they take a job they can be screened at anytime. Stop listening to what other employees tell you and for the love of God stop smoking pot people! This web site would have a whole hell of a lot less people panicked on it if they didn't touch it. Be like me and just sit in the room while your friends blow it in your face.

Yeah - I'll spare you the breaking the law speech. Though i don't imbibe, i have my own thoughts on the legal status of cannibis. The don't necessarily have to spell out what the u/a is for -or thay may have already. In some paper you signed may have been some fine print about drug testing. You will, however, typically get notified if your test came back dirty.

I also stay away from illegal substances. Honestly, there are athletic performance-enhancing Rx's that I'd use before pot but I know I could get in huge trouble legally for that and lose my ability to make an income. However, I think if I were you Alex68, I'd just have refused the UA/UDS. If you do so you'll be fired (or not hired) on the spot, but at least your license wouldn't be in jeopardy. There may be Q's from the state board about why you refused, and you could tell them anything you'd like... they'd likely subject you to random screens there on, and you'd have to really stop smoking pot, but that's my 2 cents. Anybody have input on this?

ps I think pot should be legalized, controlled, and taxed like CRAZY! We are spending so many tax dollars stomping it out and dealers are making money on it... we could turn the tables and make money on it. And it causes people to relax, not fight (like ETOH).
