Teachers and odors
I work with students in this age group. I would also like to hear other opinions on this. I did have a foreign student referred to me for this issue. I was in no way willing to have him apply deodorant due to the fact that I know how deodorants can cause allergic reactions. I will admit he did have an "odor" but I just gave him a wet paper towel and had him wipe his armpits with it. I can not think of a good outcome to telling a parent that their child smells.

Nursing and epilepsy
I left my job as a LPN 3 years ago due to the increase of my seizures. I have spent the last 6 months looking for a job now that I have them under control. When asked why I have not worked in the last 2 1/2 years I told them I was dealing with an illness and took the time to get better but assured them I was better. When pushed further I confessed that I had epilepsy but that it would not get in the way of my job. They went from telling me they were desperate to hire people to not wanting to hire me. I have not had a successful interview since. All I am saying is good luck and I really hope everything works out for you.

Best jobs for nurses with seizures
I am a LPN so teaching is not in the cards for me. I had to quit my job as an agency nurse 2 years ago. I was seizure free for a year and tried to return to nursing but whenever I was asked why I left my last job I thought I should be honest. I soon learned it would have been better if I said I was fired for killing someone. Epilepsy scares people and even in healthcare people react badly to it. My neurologist suggested I apply for disability and since then I have been receiving it. I keep looking for another job in nursing but no bites yet. Good luck in your search.

Life as a minority in nursing
I am a minority and I am going to tell you now that I am tired of the weak people, who represent my culture, crying about how unfair life is. I was educated in the Newark, NJ school system and did not allow my color to hold me back. People need to stop using their color as an excuse for failing. Suck it up and move on.

Smokers in Nursing School--How Are You Treated?
When I was in school the smokers weren't even allowed to smoke when they were in uniform. It didn't bother me since I didn't smoke but we had a lot of unhappy people.

Moral/Ethical Advice
I remember when I was in school a fellow nursing student felt the need to tell me that she was cheating off of another student. I told her that I didn't want to hear about it again. She told me again so I went to the instructor and let her know what was being told to me. I wasn't there to be popular and I warned her that it made me uncomfortable. She was kicked out of the program a few weeks later. This student should not be placing you in this situation.

How do you de-stress?
I LOVE running. I get out all of my frustration on the road. By the time I get home I am too tired to be stressed.

Working in a weight-loss clinic?
A lot of people on this site ask questions about meds and their safety. I didn't didn't find anything absurd about her question.

Working in a weight-loss clinic?
Since I can't figure out for the life of me where you are asking for medical advice I will bite. No, I have never worked for a weight-loss clinic and I do hope that someone on here does respond and help you but I do know that if a place gives you the creeps and makes you worry you probably shouldn't take the job. I hope someone on here can help you.

Calling briefs "diapers"....*vent*
The residents can call them whatever they want. I had one who called it his "banana hammock". Do any of you feel that I should call it that since that is what he calls it? No? Well then the whole thought that since the residents call them diapers we should is pathetic. I am pretty sure they can figure out briefs and depends. Give them a little credit and stop treating them like children.

Another nurse bites the dust due to facebook
My son and his friends try to "friend" as many people on fb as possible. I know that these are not people they are really close to because when I ask he will tell me "oh, that's just a kid in my class". It reminds me of a lot of these idiots that I work with and their fb pages. They "friend" everyone on the floor. If you saw my fb you would think I was the stinky, fat kid. I have nobody from work because after I leave work I also want to leave you. If I want to talk to you I will call or see you in 12 hours.

Tired of nurses threatening to quit!!!
I would try to encourage this person because I think that is the right thing to do. I would encourage her right out the door. As a previous poster wrote you should be so wonderful as to bring in help wanted listings with RN positions neatly underlined and point them out to her. I think that would be the nice thing to do and Jesus will smile down on you for it.:)
