With all the threads on here about understaffing and bad management, I just wanted to post this...

Tonight in my little slice of heaven we have eight patients between three nurses and two techs.

My manager called me off tonight (I work as a nurse apprentice) because there were only 5 patients and they had 3 nurses and a CNA.

I was actually looking forward to going in but I would have been bored out of my mind. I will be up for a long time tonight though because I slept all afternoon thinking I would be working all night.

I'd rather have a little too much to do than not enough. I am a graduate nurse and most of the nurses on my floor are pretty new. So, I can only do CNA work until I take my NCLEX. It drives me crazy when I have to sit in Obs all day. I don't know how they do it every single day.

Thanks for posting this. We do see more complaining than anything and I'll be honest I wonder why people don't pursue other avenues if they are so miserable. I also love my hospital and in particular my unit. Not that it is perfect but for the most part and especially after reading things written here its pretty darn good.

Two questions:

1. Where is this hospital?

2. Are they hiring grateful LPNs that would demonstrate true appreciation?

And, if so, I am on the next plane.

I am happy that one of us is not insane with stress and fatigue. :0)

I was called off last night due to a census of 3....and I was perfectly ok with that!

In fact, hoping to be on call tonight! :) I'll just use some PTO time...

The administration here where I work really does treat their nurses well. I'm glad to be here.:D
