Just wanted to say I like the new format, with the member information at the bottom of the post instead of the top.
I know. I feel the same way when you see someone with 1-2y exp., and they say they have exp. in "Oncology; ED; L&D: Management."
Hmmm...OK. I never knew 3 months counted as being "experienced."
To be fair, when one fills out their profile, the question asked is along the lines of "what fields do you have experience in?" So, naturally, people put whatever fields they happen to have worked in be it 3 months or 30 years.
I don't think anyone's implying 3 months makes one a specialist. It's just the way the format is set up when one is filling out one's profile.

Anything less than 5 years = inexperienced, IMO
I cannot imagine having the audacity to claim student hours as experience. How embarrassing. I don't read the bios, so I haven't seen that. Just as well because I would definitely have to mock that, and then I'd have to be flogged.
Okay, I'll compromise. Since I went to nursing school for 2 years and did pre-nursing pre-reqs for a year while working as a CNA, I'll add 3 years to my experience. But since I haven't been in any one area for five years, I'll change my specialty to "Emergency" since that's what I have the most experience with and what I am currently doing. I'll remove "cardiac" and "infusion" since I only spent a couple of years doing each of those. Does that work?
Hm, mine says "Nursing Specialties" and then there is a box to free text your specialty areas. If you don't have a specialty, you can leave it blank.
Just went to the "update profile" page for first time in 3 years and, sure enough, you're right.
My profile tag thingie implied I was a "specialist" in corrections which is funny considering I worked there less than 6 months. I can only imagine that when I saw "Nursing Specialties", I assumed it simply meant "list the fields you have worked in"
Perhaps "Nursing Field" would be a more appropiate box for indicating what sort of nurse one is.
I don't like how my info is presented. I have been a HHA/CNA for one year, and I made sure I checked that my highest degree is NON Nursing. But then I read on my post 1 year of nursing experiance. I KNOW I am no nurse, and then when you read it looks like I am trying to say I have nursing skills when I know I don't. ugg

I agree, I like to see where people work when I read their posts - I like to see what perspective they are coming from. I don't really think it's anything to get too upset about (all though a nurse with 1 year experience and specialising in management - okay, fair enough )
Maybe it is the way the info is presented . . not the info itself that kinda bugged me. I'm sure it has to do with the logistics of the differences in all our own personal stories being inputted . . . but it looks disjointed.

'In the mountains' .. .vs. "In the mountains"
Age: 56 Spidey's mom has '16' year(s) . . . . vs. Age: 56. Spidey's mom has "16" year(s) . . .
'ER/L&D/Hospice/School Nurse' vs. "ER/L&D/Hospice/School Nurse"
I'm sure there is a reason to use '.....' vs. "....."

I still find myself clicking on the stars to see people's info. It's become habit.
