I feel like burning most the LVN review books I bought as they did me no good what-so-ever on the NCLEX. The questions I got came out of left field. Stuff that wasn't taught in school like post mordum care for jewish men and questions about the Buhdist faith. I couldn't believe the questions I got. It felt like I guessed at half the questions. What a terrible feeling I have now. I have went threw the ENTIRE Saunders LNV review book and cd TWICE, that's 6,000 questions, as well as the kaplan review book, "lvn made easy", and the mosby cd. Total review questions and rationales done exceeded 8,000. Yet it didn't help me at all. Yes I read the rationales for ALL the questions/ answers. The NCSBN.ORG review was the only thing that helped me as the questions were similar to the NCLEX.
The VAST majority of question were priority questions. I had learned all the tricks to answer these in the Kaplan book. Only one big problem....the priority questions in kaplan are a complete joke (very easy) compared to the actual NCLEX ones which were brutal.
My computer shut off at 85 and I am positive I got the 85th question wrong because I looked it up when I got home. I hear if the computer stops at 85 and you miss the last question ...you most likely failed if you weren't doing so hot. I wanted to throw up when I left the testing center.
So hear I sit and have to wait 3 weeks to get result in CA. I will start checking the LVN board website next week, but I have a bad feeling my name won't be up there and I will have to take the NCLEX again.
hi everyone,
I'm new to this post & i am among the many who recently took the NCLEX, actually this morning at 8am. Right now, I can't think straight. When my friend called me earlier to see how i'm doing, I didn't understand a word she was saying. I guess this is the NCLEX-after effect syndrome (haha). I have a lot of mixed feelings about whether I pass the NCLEX. It took me almost 3 hours and 45mins (mainly reading over the Qs twice or 3times) to finish 96-98ish Qs. I don't know if that's gd sign and I've been told that it doesnt matter what the #s are. So i guess that makes it even worse, waiting for the unknown, and unknown that is prolonged for 4 weeks! I guess i'm on here is because i need some sort of emotional support. Everyone keeps on saying "oh don't worry you'll pass", but what is i really don't pass....=/
Just to saythe least, i enjoy reading everyone's stories about their own NCLEX's experience, keep going and I hope to hear that everyone passes~!

Hang in there Greenapple167 I felt the same way when I took it on the 18th. Are you in a state that has quick results where you can check in a few days? You are in my prayers.:loveya:
the NCLEX-after effect syndrome
I love your choice of words! Like I said earlier... and so many others have to... you come out of there emotionally and mentally numb. And then, waiting to hear the results. I've been a nervous wreck which is not like me, I'm usually the rock in the storm to everyone else.
Anyway, I had to share.. I passed!!! I found out on the state's website last night. What a blessing! I am so thrilled!
I keep all those about to test and those waiting for results in my prayers! Good luck and Godspeed!
Hi Mar18,
Thank you so much for your prayers! I really need it!
I live in California, and the website says that it should take a minimum of 3-4wks to mail out results. I really don't understand the lag of it, but i dont have much choice. All it is like now is just waiting. But i was told that i can go online and verify my license (to see if i pass).
How about you? Are you expecting your result anytime soon?

I took my NCLEX on Feb 15th and also live in California so I"m hoping to get results in the mail late next week. If not, then the week after. I hate the waiting too. Good luck to you!
Hey guyz,Im still in nursing skool i graduate in june:bugeyes: , but im starting 2 freak out about the NCLEX, im looking for a good reveiw book i heard that saunders is but then i heard it wasnt , what do you guyz tink about mosby? and input ,tips ? HELP ME PLEEAASEE!!!!
I used the Saunders Comprehensive CD-ROM, Kaplan Online Q-bank, a little bit of Mosby's CD-ROM, and a little bit of Lippincott's CD-ROM. I also signed up for a short review class that helped review body systems. When you schedule to take your NCLEX, be sure to practice at least 100-200 questions a day and always review the rationales on the questions you got wrong. I used the study mode on the Saunder's CD and went through all body systems including mental health, maternity, pediatrics, and pharmacology. Also, you should know your common lab values. I'm sure you know that the NCLEX now has alternate format questions like Select All That Apply...Oh, I've also heard that the format will change starting April 2008 but I don't know what those changes are. Remember your ABC's and Maslow's Hiercarchy of Needs and Nursing Process to help you answer questions. GOOD LUCK with school!!!!!! GOOD LUCK on the NCLEX!!!! Study hard and if you need anything don't hestitate to post!!! We're here for ya!!!!
WOW~ Congrats to all those who passed!!!
I will be taking mine in May....seems like sooo far away...but I thought I would share some info with yall. My instructor is on the Louisiana State of Practical Nursing....and this is what she tells us. The NCLEX test will ask a question...and if you get it wrong then it should expand on that area...and maybe ask a really easy question or two. She said the numbers dont really matter....because like some said on here...you can pass at 85 and 205. My guess is it requires you to get a certain number questions in each specific area to pass you!!
....I cant imagine waiting 4 weeks. I would be calling and bugging everyone I could get to talk to me!!! LOL:bowingpur
I wish all good luck...and I hope ya'll find out soon!!!!

Hey Greenapple167,
I called the board of nursing today to find out if the results was sent. She couldn't tell if I passed but she told me that they where sent out on the 20th, and Im still waiting for it. Im at the point where I just want to know. Most of my classmate got there's within 3 to 5 days.

Hey nursingstudent30,
Could you ask your instructor why Louisiana can't access the quick results and why we can't go online to check results. The wait is killing me!!! The mail man and I are on a first name basis now LOL!!!!
