I feel like burning most the LVN review books I bought as they did me no good what-so-ever on the NCLEX. The questions I got came out of left field. Stuff that wasn't taught in school like post mordum care for jewish men and questions about the Buhdist faith. I couldn't believe the questions I got. It felt like I guessed at half the questions. What a terrible feeling I have now. I have went threw the ENTIRE Saunders LNV review book and cd TWICE, that's 6,000 questions, as well as the kaplan review book, "lvn made easy", and the mosby cd. Total review questions and rationales done exceeded 8,000. Yet it didn't help me at all. Yes I read the rationales for ALL the questions/ answers. The NCSBN.ORG review was the only thing that helped me as the questions were similar to the NCLEX.
The VAST majority of question were priority questions. I had learned all the tricks to answer these in the Kaplan book. Only one big problem....the priority questions in kaplan are a complete joke (very easy) compared to the actual NCLEX ones which were brutal.
My computer shut off at 85 and I am positive I got the 85th question wrong because I looked it up when I got home. I hear if the computer stops at 85 and you miss the last question ...you most likely failed if you weren't doing so hot. I wanted to throw up when I left the testing center.
So hear I sit and have to wait 3 weeks to get result in CA. I will start checking the LVN board website next week, but I have a bad feeling my name won't be up there and I will have to take the NCLEX again.
Well I just got home from taking the NCLEX-PN. I feel like the world's stupidest person. Ok, not the world's but.. that test was tough. I had 160 questions. I feel such a fool, and drained, and nervous... Everyone says "I'm sure you did well", but they're not me.
Thanks for letting me vent. Good luck to all... and by the way, study those meds, priorities, and stages of development. I had only one (1) drug calculation question, and none (0) on cultural issues. And whoever said that Saunders didn't help much, I agree. I think if I had to do it again (and I pray I don't) I'd take the online course from ncsbn.
Peace!
grievsterlvn- Thanks for the congrats! I took the test on 1-31 and received the results on 2-23, so my best guesstimate for you is that you're still about 2 weeks out.
For the rest of you who have recently taken the test, hang in there! I haven't heard of one person who felt that they did well. Most people (myself included) say they came out shaking their heads and thinking "what on earth was THAT??" You aren't alone in thinking that you blew it. I was positive I didn't pass, but I did pass and the chances are that you will too.
I studied from a variety of programs and my school included a review class. I felt like the questions on the test were from left field, and that nothing I'd studied really prepared me for it. But maybe the study materials helped me to think along the right lines.
At any rate, good luck to you all and know that we're rooting for you!

THANK YOU! I love coming here because everyone gives me hope! I took mine on Feb 15th so I'm hoping my results will be in late next week...what do you think? I'm from Cali. Next week will mark 3 weeks on the 7th.
CONGRATS for passing!!!!
Hello all! I just called the quick results line this morning and found out I passed..omg, i was soo certain that there was a good possibility that i hadnt..to all you out there, who think you didnt pass...im guessing you did..dont worry yourself sick (yeah, waaay easier said than done..lol) you probably did ok! Congrats to all that have already passed..and my thoughts are with you for those who dont know yet!
I took the NCLEX pn on Feb. 4th stopped at 85 questions. i honestly don't feel all that great about it since the easy infection control questions that i SHOULD have gotten, I ended up getting wrong. I just hope i passed. I give birth in 2 weeks, so it would be soOo great to be able to have passed and start working in a couple of months. I've been checking the mail like crazy all week. I hope todays the day that i read the words "PASSED."
Congrats to those who have already passed! It must be a great feeling. And to those of us still waiting, good luck to us!!!!!!
Hi guys I took my board this morning. I stopped at 85 and came out not knowing if I pass/fail. I had different topics that gave me. From Diabetes to priorities. I got like 3 medication and my last question was select all that applies. So now all I have to do is wait for my result. Is there any way of finding out your result early???
Hopefully I pass guys!!!!!! Pray 4 me!!!!! :nuke:
glenn,
what state are you in? Im reading all these posts from california and just thinking how freakin bad it sucks that they cant get their unofficial results any earlier than three weeks by snail mail...whats up with that anyway california people? Here in NY we can call a phone number that charges 10 bucks to your phone bill, two business days after the test, and it will tell you your "unofficial" results...why does it work so much different in Cali?
