I just took the NCLEX - PN, my thoughts.

Nursing Students NCLEX

I feel like burning most the LVN review books I bought as they did me no good what-so-ever on the NCLEX. The questions I got came out of left field. Stuff that wasn't taught in school like post mordum care for jewish men and questions about the Buhdist faith. I couldn't believe the questions I got. It felt like I guessed at half the questions. What a terrible feeling I have now. I have went threw the ENTIRE Saunders LNV review book and cd TWICE, that's 6,000 questions, as well as the kaplan review book, "lvn made easy", and the mosby cd. Total review questions and rationales done exceeded 8,000. Yet it didn't help me at all. Yes I read the rationales for ALL the questions/ answers. The NCSBN.ORG review was the only thing that helped me as the questions were similar to the NCLEX.

The VAST majority of question were priority questions. I had learned all the tricks to answer these in the Kaplan book. Only one big problem....the priority questions in kaplan are a complete joke (very easy) compared to the actual NCLEX ones which were brutal.

My computer shut off at 85 and I am positive I got the 85th question wrong because I looked it up when I got home. I hear if the computer stops at 85 and you miss the last question ...you most likely failed if you weren't doing so hot. I wanted to throw up when I left the testing center.

So hear I sit and have to wait 3 weeks to get result in CA. I will start checking the LVN board website next week, but I have a bad feeling my name won't be up there and I will have to take the NCLEX again.

Well for me, I think the way she said that it means you will pass. Its already obvious that she said most people pass of that kind of reaction after the test, and she didnt say any negative. Unlike with me, she urge me to study more!

Dont worry! you'll pass! ok!

aaaw, shucks, thanks guys! :yeah:

One more thing!! if your computer tells you to have a break, then take a break, if you will not, it will shut down the next question. I think the computer tells you that your score is near the passing mark, its like they are giving you the oppotunity to answer more questions!

also, I think proctors on that testing center knows your result already. So if they say something different after your test it means ??? and if they say something nice, its a good sign you pass!

The staff at the testing centers do not know if you passed or not. They do not have access to that information. They don't know the answers to the questions, either. They are there to make sure protocol is followed. The data on your test goes to a system with Pearson Vue at their main offices.

Hi guys i have been kinda behind the scene guy with all the Pn forums untill I took ma test today and i decided that birds of a feather flock and i registered so that i can join all those who are anxiously waiting for thier results, and now I'm posting this, It is nerve wrecking just the thought of waiting 2-4 weeks to get results, i thought Ca is one of the states that should have the quick results thing, but hi they wanna keep us waiting, we will........My thoughts for the test, screw all the reviews and the books from saunders its about what you learn in class, how you think critically, analyze situations, and prioritize your nursing actions. the reviews only help you cormfort yourself that you been studying your ass off, saunders has alot of course material, ncsbn is more of priority and i must say I got like 10 drug questions,,,,,,,,,,well Ima do it the west coast style, sit back, and kill myself waiting for those results.:uhoh3:

Congrats to ALL OF YOU!

For those of us who have taken that god forsaken test I feel that there should be some kind of medel or honor bestowed upon us! It is/was the most unsettleing experience of my life! Talk about a GRAY test, no black or white in it at all!

I think that the one thing that I can pass along to any of you that are getting ready to take it is this. Take it soon after you finish school, that way the information that you have learned is still fresh in your head. Secondly, know your systems, how they work front, back and upside down. If you know how they are supposed to work, it is much easier to know what to expect when they don't.

As for those cultural questions, who knows! I really don't think any of the LPN schools teach much when it comes to that subject, I know mine did not, luckly I didn't have but just a couple of them on my test. Most all of mine were prioritizing patients either geriatric or peds, neither of which I studied much for, but I did pass on the first go around.

If you want results back fast though, come to Kansas. As backwards as this state is with almost everything else they sure aren't with getting your results back.. Took my test on a Tuesday, and had my results and my REAL LICENSE in had in 2, yes count them, 2 days!!!! Sorry BigB, I know I suck, but oh well.

Again Congrats to all of us!!!

Dan

Hey Big B, what ever happened to the other gal who lives by you that was waiting for her results? Didn't see any post about it.

Good Job! Congrats

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU NEW NURSES!!!

This is a great thread. It is better than a novel! I have been pulling for all of you to pass. It is a great feeling to get that letter saying you passed. Welcome to the wonderful world of nursing!

I PASSED, I PASSED, I PASSED. Got my LPN license on 2/2/06. I am soooo excited!! Also, I am in the ADN program here at Chipola College in Marianna, Florida. I am the president of our class. I was looking for some wholesale Nursing gifts to purchase for my classmates when we graduate. Can you tell me maybe some websites I can look on? I have already bought Graduation Teddybears (with the cute little hats in our school colors and tassels) and thought maybe like getting a personalized RN pin or something to attach to it would be nice. Any suggestions, I would appreciate!!!!!

WOOOOO HOOOOOOO :nurse:

I took my NCLEX-PN on 02/08/06 and walked out of there feeling like i bombed the test. I wasn't able to cry or get sick I just felt so numb & it was hard to express anything until the next day & I cried for the 1st time. Its hard walking out of there and just not knowing other than feeling like you failed. I got my results on 02/09 and I passed at 85 questions!!

Just keep your heads up everyone and try to be positive. Now I just need to find a job!! :chuckle
