  1. Thank you all so much for your kind words and encouragement. I have never been in trouble. I was a hospice nurse for 10 years. I started out taking Xanax to help with the emotional hardship. I then decided to go back into Med/Surg and take a break. The horrendous anxiety and panic attacks continued. I had a massive panick attack at work and that's why I took the medicine from the Med cart. I have an active prescription for the medication bit was still charged with Possession without a prescription. I don't have the funds for an attorney. I guess I will see about a Public Defender. Also any ideas anyone on what type of job I can do while waiting? Can I continue to work as an RN or would that not be advisable? Thank you all again so very much. Any information is appreciated.
  2. I am an RN in Florida. I was caught taking five 0.5 mg Xanax from work (on camera). I have a prescription for them but took them from the Pyxis system. I was terminated, arrested and charged with 2 felonies (grand Larceny and Possession of a controlled substance without a prescription). I just bailed out and got home. I am exhausted, devastated and lost. I don't know what came over me to do such a stupid thing. I have never been in trouble before. The Administration at the hospital told me to self report to the BON. I do not have money to hire a lawyer and will have to use a public defender. I am wondering about others that have been through this or similar. Im hoping to plea the charges to misdemeanors. I HAVE to work and make a living. I am single with 2 daughters. Any information or ideas would be so helpful. Thank you all so much. Please don't judge. It was my drug of choice to self soothe
  3. Hi Military Spouse, I am from Dothan. I grew up in Enterprise. Nice area. I am attending Chipola College in Marianna Florida. That is about 32 miles from Dothan. Wonderful School. I am in my last semester. Quite a few people from Wallace College are transferring to Chipola. We have an outstanding pass rate. Also, after your third semester, you may sit for your LPN/PN NCLEX exam. That is great. Make a little extra money!!! Just wanted to let you know that there are other options besides Wallace. We have quite a few Ft. Rucker people at our college. Any questions, let me know. Have a great day!!!!:chuckle
  4. Thank you both for responding. I used the formula that GIJay gave me and it worked on the problems that I had on the test!!! yeah!!I passed it with a 90.9. Counting down the weeks till graduation!!! 12 weeks to go!!! Thanks again!!
  5. Hi there, I am in my last semester of ADN school and we have a math calculations test tomorrow. We were given a sample test and I don't understand how to work some of the problems. We have never had an IV complex therapy class,,,,,,,,so we are kinda thrown into this. I wanted to know if anyone had a formula that they use to calculate these.......Thanks so much. I will list a few problems. 1. Order: Primacor 50 mg in 100 ml NS; infuse at a rate of 0.375 mcg/kg/min; Wt. is 228 lbs. Pump setting is ___________ ml/hr. 2. Order: IV bolus of 1500 cc of D5W over 8 hours. tubing rate is 10 gtts/ml. Pump setting is __________ ml/hr Drip rate is_____________gtt/min 3. Order:Amiodarone 300mg/500ml D5W to infuse at a rate of 5 mcg/kg/min. WEight is 330 lbs. The patient is receiving how many mg/hr?____________ 4. Order: NS 2.5 L Q 12 hours The bag was hung at 0600 using 15 gg/ml tubing. How much should be left? It is now 1430? _____________ML (I know this one is probably simple, but don't understand how to work it) Thanks for all your help!!!! I have always done the ratio to proportion formula to work out my problems. But we have not had any critical IV drug therapy lessons. Thanks again.
  6. Hi there, I am in my 4th semester of ADN program in Florida. I am in Pharm II and Med Surg II. I have found that a good stethoscope light was handy for me. It keeps me from having to search in my pocket to find my pin light when doing an assessment. They fit around the end of your stethoscope. You can find them on E-bay. That is where I bought mine. They are really cool. I also have a storage clipboard and a rolling book bag. I also wear Merrells to school or Nike Shox. My hubby is a Podiatrist. He has insoles in my shoes called Spenco's. These are the best. Get the walker runner kind. They are made up of a material that Nasa uses (my hubby said some kind of nitrous gas? something). Anyhoo, these are absolutely the best!! Great for tired achy feet. Hope this helps. Will graduate August 2006!!!! Can't wait!!! I just passed my LPN boards 2/2/06!! wooohooo!! Take care everyone!!
  7. I PASSED, I PASSED, I PASSED. Got my LPN license on 2/2/06. I am soooo excited!! Also, I am in the ADN program here at Chipola College in Marianna, Florida. I am the president of our class. I was looking for some wholesale Nursing gifts to purchase for my classmates when we graduate. Can you tell me maybe some websites I can look on? I have already bought Graduation Teddybears (with the cute little hats in our school colors and tassels) and thought maybe like getting a personalized RN pin or something to attach to it would be nice. Any suggestions, I would appreciate!!!!! WOOOOO HOOOOOOO
  8. Good luck to ya. Let us know how you do. It has been a little over a week for me, but we are not offered the quick response from Pearson Vue. Will let you guys know how I did when I get my results. Take care!!:balloons:
  9. Hey guys, I am here in Alabama and too my test last Thursday Jan. 26th. I am in the same boat. Cut off at 85 questions. I had some really hard prioritization questions and quite a few about dietary requirements. hmmmmmm. Only had 2 Pharm question *grin* Did fine on those. Now I am stressed out waiting on the results. I am in an RN program at Chipola College in Marianna, Florida where after our 3rd semester, you can sit for your PN exam. I am the president of our class and make some of the highest grades. What a bummer if I fail. What a bad example I would set for my class. Pray for me please!!! Will let you know the results in a few weeks!!
  10. yeah, So what does the I.E. stand for? Never heard that one before? "Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle."
