I just can't!

I just can't take the stupidity anymore. Nope, I'm done! Four weeks to go...I can do this!! Sorry for being so vague but I'm tired of the ridiculous reasons the students are coming to me for, the ridiculous parents and going completely out of my way for them and am so tired of being behind on documenting.

Today is an early dismissal!

Kid came in for treatment of an extremity that began hurting "in the third grade." We're in high school. Didn't want meds, didn't want call to parent or an ice pack.

How can I help you? "I was hoping for a massage."

Hang in there!

:roflmao:

I think I would have just burst out laughing in that kid's face. I don't know how you guys do what you do!!!

Do you do mani/pedis as well?

I'd also like a facial and some type of adult beverage with my massage.

...with complementary saltines, of course.

Or just skip the whole thing and go straight for the adult beverage. I could not do what you do. Not without a big boot to punt everyone back out the door.

Of course we need a boot! Our toes are freshly painted!

I'm seeing a 300% increase in hula hoop injuries this year over last.

Who knew.

I had a student with a skull fracture from a hula hooping this year. (Never thought those two would be said together.) When his hula hoop stopped he bent down to pick it up but he tipped over hitting his head on the concrete floor.

Another student came in with a concerned look...

Me: what's going on?

Student: I have my brother's disease. He was sick last night and now I have it.

Me: what's wrong with your brother?

Student: he threw up last night. (he called it puke but I HATE that word)

Me: so... does your stomach hurt or did you throw up?

Student: no but I know I got it because I sat next to him. (student felt fine- no symptoms)

Me: go back to class.

Student: he threw up last night. (he called it puke but I HATE that word)

I hate the word "Barf" Ug.

I just had my "I'm done" moment. Today has been a rough day, and now two of my students, sisters, who have never had their hair cut in their whole lives...have lice.

They have gone though the over the counter treatment and mom is doing her best, but I just think there is literally just too much hair for the lice/nits to hide in. They have crazy thick hair too which nearly makes me break a sweat when checking.

5 more days...5 more days

Mantra... 6 more days... 6 more days.

XXXX (third grade) was in the nurse office lying down when the nurse arrived from another building. She said she was in there because she didn't have a fever but her throat hurt and she felt like she was going to throw up. She said her parent was called and wasn't coming to pick her up so they told her to lie down. The secretary bought her a jimmy john's sandwich. When nurse brought up that the student said she felt like she was going to throw up and questioned the wisdom of a jimmy john's, the student said she felt better and ate the sandwich. After she finished the sandwich, she was returned to class.

True entry from two days ago with the name blocked out. Sigh...

I saw over 100 students today. Someone started yelling on the walkie about an emergency during recess and was unclear about where they were so I ran outside with the wheelchair (after taking another student out of the wheelchair who I had just wheeled in minutes before), ended up having to run around half the school, accompanied by the principal (the yelling was that disconcerting), only to find a student who was embarrassed by the fuss and angrily trying to avoid assessment. So I pleaded with him to allow me to do the most focused assessment ever before allowing him to go to lunch and returning to the packed health office.

I mean, has anyone else seen over 100 students? We had 80 one day last week and 90 one day the week before that... I think I sent home 4 today? What kind of crazy ratio is that.

I just started in January but am so ready for summer vacation

So much respect for those of you who have been doing this for years. I work with great staff but maybe it's because we're all tired that I still feel like everyone's running over me because what's "one more student" in the grand scheme of things

I just can't either.

Just the idea of 100 makes me want to crawl under my desk. And I'm in the same boat, even though I started in January, I've been counting down to summer since spring break.
