Hello all! I was reading a thread about gear for school and a few people recommended these Zuca bags. I had been looking at other bags, but these seem much better for our needs! Thought I'd share! Can't wait to get mine.
I got my Zuca in the mail this week! It's very nice...tons of compartments and it's very well made and super sturdy. I bought the seat cushion that covers the top of the frame, and it feels so sturdy and comfortable when I sit on it. It's a lot smaller than it looks in the picture. It's light, compact and rolls soooo smooth. It's very cute and I can't wait to load it up! Showed it to 3 of the girls I'm starting school with, and 2 of them are ordering themselves one! Too bad there aren't any stores you can go in and look at them because I think most people would really like it if they could see them in person. I can tell that it's going to last through school, and beyond. I'm going to use it for everything. I couldn't be happier about it!
Well rub it in why don't ya!I really really want to get one. I may have to rethink this! Glad you like it!!
Lol, sorry!! Hey, I saw some for cheaper on Ebay. I did buy the frame and insert (bag) separately. If I find some cheap inserts, I'll get another one to change out every now and then. The frame is the most expensive part.
I'm thinking about buying one of these myself, but I have only seen them online and can't really tell how big it really is. How many books do you think will fit in the main compartment? Will they fit flat, or do they need to stand upright? Will a laptop fit in the side pocket?
Sorry for all of the questions, lol. I just want to make sure before I buy.

In the main compartment, a book can lay flat and stack, but only if it is about the size of an 81/2 x 11 sheet of paper. Binders and science texts books would be too wide to stack. I tested it out by putting my Kindle DX (which measures 8 1/2 x 11) in the bottom and it fit with about a half an inch all the way around. As far as books standing upright, I can put my A&P text, Micro text, both Lab manuals for those classes, and two 1.5 inch binders in there, so you can probably get an image of how wide the inside is. It will easily accommodate 10 inches of books/binders standing up side by side. There are two side pockets, each that zip closed. I would say a lap top will fit in there, BUT it would take away some of the inside room. There are also two net pockets on each side, and a laptop would easily fit in either of those, even if you already had it in a sleeve/case of it's own. There is also a net pocket on the inside, top, that hangs down and it's perfect for about 200-300 large index cards. There are also so many compartments inside the "door" or whatever you'd call it (the part that zips open to the main part, and can fit a little stapler, pens, pencils, paper/binder clips, erasers, keys, phone, etc. You can also have another bag (in my case, it's an insulated lunch bag) and slip the straps over the top of the pull handle, and it will stack on top of the zuca. All in all, the it isn't as big as I thought it would be, and isn't as big as everyone seems to think it is. It's not the size of a carry on suitcase, and it's not a rolling orificenal. It is cute and rolls smoothly, and will easily fit inside any and all classrooms and labs at my school. It also has double wheels on the back, so you can pull it right up stairs and it "climbs" the stairs. Super cool, I absolutely love mine. Hope that helps! Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions!
I love how the related items are all nursing books!
Is that supposed to be sarcastic? 1.) I don't have any actual nursing books yet; and 2.) I was just testing the width of the bag, and knew most people would be able to get a good idea of the width of the inside, if I tested it out with books we are mostly all familiar with.
Yes, I took the above post as funny as nothing else is going to fit but all nursing stuff. I broke down and finally purchased my bag and spent more than I wanted. I took the kids to Staples for their "Back to School" looked at bags liked one and, of course, didn't get it despite it was the only one that I have really liked. Thought I would find it cheaper online but couldn't find it period. Angry at myself went back as I had 5.00 off coupon the next day and they were closed so now went a third time...ugh....and purchased it. Lucky for me the store is right next to
me.
What I like about it, is the big middle section. It is called Wenger catalog wheeled case by maker of Swiss Army Knife. There is a separate sleeve for laptop but I am not planning on bringing mine to class. The two interior sleeves can just go flat against the sides to fit more textbooks. Just the one big area and the other zipper compartment in front that holds a lot. I was finding the backpacks including the one I already have had way too many little compartments that weren't getting used. I also wanted this lower type briefcase as I saw people at my school using them and putting their lab kit bag on top. All said and done it was just over 100.00. I was doing so well at trying to find supplies at a bargain, but then I realized it will be used everyday for two years so if it lasts then I have my money's worth which I am sure it will hold up well.
Thanks Jackie! You responded quick and answered my questions! I'm pretty sure this is what I'll need for school. I guess if all my books don't fit, I can always stack my regular bookbag on top or just put it on my back as well. I start in August, and am really nervous/excited to finally be a nursing student. :)
