I Hate People (my rant)

Nurses Relations

Published

The Sum Up:

Why I hate people in general (reasons why):

*When they stare at me for over 3 seconds for no apparent reason! Especially, when I'm trying to eat a subway sandwich or something and they just feel the need to watch me eat. Or when I'm trying to fix my hair in a portable mirror and they just feel the need to glance at me more then twice. Once should be enough because it's rude!

*When they walk so slowww in front of me to the point where I just want to push them. Because I am a very impatient person to the point where the littlest things tick me off if it's not fast enough.

*I hate when people tries to start a conversation with me! So I just smile and nod my head and hope that they get the jist that I don't want to talk. And it's not even people in general, it's actually because I'm a bad conversationalist!

Why I dislike kids:

* I don't necessarily hate them but I do force myself to be nice as possible to them. However, I really don't like interacting with children unless it's to hold a baby.

*I don't want kids until my late 30s. Go figure. And I especially don't want to get married because every relationship I get into it only lasts for about 3 months because I love being a loner. If I'm going to work seeing people then I would like to come home and see no people.

But I love animals (I have 4 dogs)! However, I just don't see myself working with animals in the future because I would love to keep my hands in tact.

And no guys I am not trolling. This is really an everything for me and it's the reasons why it is so hard for me to commit to nursing. And I actually have an appointment set up with a therapist July 18 before I go off to nursing school and it's to find out why I really act this way.

So I just wanted to make this thread because after scrolling Allnurses for the last two days I find that threads like these are not common but their are people out there who is just like me and wants to go into nursing. I want to be a nurse because I find that I really like helping people and kids at their weakest points but other than that I hate people.

I just can't even...

Where I work Code WHITE is an armed intruder/active shooter. Seems appropriate given that white is the skin color of the person most likely to come into a building with a loaded gun and begin shooting random people (in this country).

WHAT.

I can't even.

My hospital calls it Code Black. I'm pretty sure they just ran out of colors.

We have colors, letters, and numbers. Wouldn't it be nice if we had a nationwide system so that there was some consistency? I mean, code blue is pretty universal. Why not everything else?

OP, I think you have answered your own thoughts and questions when it comes to going into nursing.

Let me put it in terms you may understand:

DO NOT BE A NURSE!

With your current situation on "why you hate people," I would not want you to be at my bedside if I were a patient.

Nursing is a compassionate job that needs love and support for patients you care for. Life is not to be played with. We all care for patients who are truly ill with acute/chronic illnesses. They don't need to hear your thoughts on why you hate people at the bedside if you were a nurse. The care you would be giving would be deathly.

In summary, I would prefer that you do not be a nurse as the lives entrusted onto you may be in danger.

I'm quite certain that is not WHY this hospital calls it a code white, but it seems fitting.

Code Black in this facility is a bomb threat.

So let's pretend you actually care for a moment.

Florence nightingale is the founder of modern nursing basically.

We quote that we "solemnly pledge myself before God and in the presence of this assembly to pass my life in purity and to practise my profession faithfully." BECAUSE nursing is a healing practice. We don't just shove pills down people's throats, start IVs and have sex with doctors like in the soap operas. We let love guide our practice. We let our hearts and guts react when needed, we understand that God is above all, and ultimately it is up to Him to determine if our patients live or die.

You must accept this, or you will most likely fail as a nurse.

Please do not impose your religious beliefs on others. As a Navy Veteran/Gulf War, I uphold your right to practice your religion or no religion but don't assume everybody believes in your God. I went to grad/NP school with a good friend who is Buddhist, I work for a physician who is Hindu. Not everyone believes in the Bible. I also taught nursing students for almost 10 years & BTW there are 2 versions of the Nightingale Pledges one is more modern then the one quoted. No not everyone has to recited it at pinning ceremony/graduation. Faculty voted to use the more modern version BTW. Not required at all. So, where do we teaching tolerance, compassion & empathy??? The OP recognizes a need to consult with a specialist. Let's stay on topic.

Stay on topic? Don't you think that ship sailed a long time ago?

You need to be an anesthetist. You talk very little to the patient or family & then they are unconscious. Most I know also don't talk to the staff a lot. Stay out of surgery or ICU. The patient may be unconscious but you have to talk to the rest of us. Maybe phone triage?

Personally there are days I just hate the phone. And when I have had one trial after another with persons who seemingly left their brain or common sense elsewhere I hate people. Get the marshmallow shooter.

You do realize that to become an anesthetist one must have ICU experience, right? And as for not talking, that depends a lot on the faculty- in mine, the anesthetist is expected to see the patient in preop.

NOT phone triage. You have to be attuned to what the patient is saying and do teaching, have them listen to you, counsel...I've had suicidal PPD patients. If I wasn't invested in those phone calls all they had to do was *click* and that's the end.

You must have compassion and empathy for phone triage and be able to convey it to the patient.

Yes, I was being facetious.

LOL ok, gotcha

Wow. A person who hates people, is fascinated by our internal organs, and can put up a mask and act like you like people? You sound like a serial killer.
