I got my flu shot today...

I got my flu shot, and I was very brave, and I didn't cry, and the Dr. said when he makes rounds next week he will bring me a sucker. I'm very proud.

A little bitter are we? I hope you get one. I'm probably going to get the flu anyway. My dad told me after I told him how brave I was that everyone in our family gets the flu when they get a flu shot. I hope I didn't get stuck for nothing.
How do you get the flu from a flu shot? Since it contains dead viruses, I don't see how that would be possible. Sure you could still get the flu even after the shot, but it's not because of the shot that you get it. Or am I just confused?

I agree with the rest of yall, I wish I could find somewhere to get one, but I can't. Last winter I was sick a lot, and couldn't get a flu shot. I've never been sick much until I started nursing school (stress, lack of sleep!) and last year it was a pain in the butt having to make up clinicals and exams. If only they had enough vaccines to go around.....

I have no idea. Maybe my family is "lucky" enough to catch a strain that isn't in the vaccine? All I know is with my family, flu shot=flu. Maybe I'll break the cycle? :)

You dont' get flu from the shot. That is a misconception. It's an attenuated virus, not live. The misinformation out there stuns me still, even among health care workers. Amazing how we misunderstand some things.
