I feel like giving up

Published

Hey there.. I just took my boards for the third time last friday and failed again.. At this point I don't know if I should even try again.. I have studied and did a million review questions and read the rationales.. Any advice/help or can anyone tell me more about suzannes plan. :bluecry1:

i am on the same boat as you. took the exam FOUR times and still didnt make it. but please don't lose hope. like the other members say here, knowing that you've taken quite a number of times means that you really want this! if there's a WILL there's a WAY!

WE can do this. just don't lose hope! :D

hello there dont give up!!let me tell you that i am in the same boat as you!i had 205(pn boards) my third time came really close to passing but i didnt.now i have to show the boards that i took a review coorifice!i felt the same way,but i always wanted to be a nurse and damit,i will!!we can do it!!!im completing suzannes plan once again well the first tip at least, she didnt email me the second yet, dont give up,we can do it!!!:sniff:

Thank you all for being so supportive and for the advice. The first two times I took the test I got all 265, my third time I got 186 questions and still failed.. and when they send the report back to show whether you were below the passing standard, above the passing standard or Near the passing standard, my results showed in 7 of the 8 categories that I was near the passing standard and on the one below does that mean that I am not even close?? I haven't had any in the above passing standard. When I took the test this last time I had a lot of med questions, things I hadn't heard before, and a lot of the other questions were nothing like the review questions I studied with. It's like where did these come from?? I am going to take a short break.. and try try again.. I love nursing and am ready to be one!

MichaelRocks,

If you haven't read Kaplans Strategies for the NCLEX, I would highly suggest it. It's sounds like you're getting hung up about the conent of the exam. Knowing everything about every drug or disease process will not guarantee a passing score on this dreadful test. Kaplan really helped me to learn how to approach questions when you have no idea what they're talking about! You can learn to eliminate answers you know aren't correct based on your basic nursing knowledge, which should lead you to the correct answer (or at least give you better odds of selecting the right one!) And if you are hung up on pharmacology, study the classes of drugs and associated side effects/teaching rather than worrying about specific names. Good luck and don't give up!

the only thing i can say is please dont give up. i've taking the exam 4 times already and now i'm preparing for the 5th . i refused to let this beat me . i have been through a lot of worst things in my life and this is just a slice of my pain going on in my life right now. when its my time to pass it will be done. so dont give up because i wont let nclex win. RN forever chrisjoy

don't give up. i too, have been having difficulty with passing the exam. unfortunately i have been talking myself out of taking the exam again; nerves of failure overcome me! however, i am taking a new outlook to this and am determined to conquer the nclex!!!! from what i have been reading, suzanne's plan seems to be the way to go. you should check it out, but don't give up! you've worked too hard and long to throw in the towel!

I can totally feel you on that. I took boards for the THIRD time yesterday. The first time I failed they stopped me at 265...then the second time they stopped me at 75...yesterday they stopped me at 90-something. Ive been letting older posts get to my head since I got a lot of math and Im thinking I might have to take them a fourth time. If that's the case..I'm not sure I have it in me to do this all over again...

PLEASE DONT GIVE UP!

if nursing is what you love and the only thing you want to do in life...

you cannot give up

when you fail....you get up and try again!

you passed nursing school...that is an accomplishment itself

i was rejected from nursing school 3x before getting in....it was over a year of my life i had to wait...but in my heart...i never gave up

i wasnt the smartest one in class...but after 50 days of hard work...i passed the nclex with 75 questions.

have u considered the kaplan??

i only paid for the qbanks and i used the saunders book in conjunction (didnt bother with the cd)...it helped me GREATLY!

its very similar to the nclex and will teach u how to break it down...i noticed many topics came up on nclex too.

YOU CAN DO IT

you have to believe in yourself first!!!!!!:redpinkhe

Having 18 posts you should now have no problems sending Suzanne a pm, ensure everything is set out as explained in her sticky and contains all the information she asks for

you mght need to read over her guidelines and try to pm her again. i was reading somewhere if everything is not right, she just deletes it b/c she is so busy. which is understandable. hope this helps. good luck.

I felt the same way....BELIEVE ME!! I took it on the first, and on the 3rd found out I failed. I thought I was a failure to everyone including myself. I told myself I didn't deserve to be a nurse. But ya know what? That day, I filled out my re-take and sent it off, and am bound and determined to pass! You know why? I studied my butt off, I stressed over tests, I put myself and my family through nervous breakdown after nervous breakdown. In the end, I walked a graduation stage and got a degree like all my other peers. I got that far, I know I can do it, and I'm not letting a computer tell me I can't be a nurse!!

I'm finishing up the 1st tip of Suzanne's 45 day plan. I've heard it's wonderful. When studying a certain way doesn't help, sometimes you just gotta try a different way!

Good luck! Hope this helps!!
