I cannot ever seem to pass my NCLEX!!! No matter what I do and how hard I try!!

Published

It's getting ridiculous already on how I keep trying for my NCLEX and still not working! What am I doing wrong?! I studied EVERYTHING!!! And i mean everything. I feel so dumb already. Right now I am in limbo.

Should I jump right back in with reviewing because I want to take the test again after the 45 day waiting period or take a break? I don't want to waste my time with waiting and at the same time I want to get my license this year. I am so tired of trying this is my 7th time and i still failed! I am running out of hope! It seems like God never wants me to pass! I am so hopeless and frustrated and so tired of studying.

The last test I took I ran out of time. I took the review from Delmar's and passed all my mock test. I can't seem to get a hold of my test anxiety! Can someone out there please hear me out. I am so desperate to the point where I'm an inch away from giving up

I came to this site to vent my frustrations and not be judged by others. It is easier for any one else to pass because you have no pressure under your belt, like my condition. You don't know how i am and you don't know who i am. So if you don't have anything nice to say then just don't say anything. I came here to learn from professionals and not be judged or called dumb.

Likewise, you have no idea what the personal struggles were that others dealt with when they took their NCLEX. No one has called you dumb. They have tried to help you, but they're also concerned about patient care as well. Someone who still hasn't passed NCLEX after 7 attempts clearly has an issue that needs to be addressed.

Don't give up! You can do it!

The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, but to those who endure to the end. Endure! Endure! Endure!

Why don't you try ATI? The questions are hard and it can train you well for the NCLEX - I do agree with the above post that 7 times is too many times , but in this life we have to be persistent!

Internationally educated nurses are ineligible to use ATI (OP was educated in the Philippines) at this time. Kaplan has a program for IENs I think hurst may and there is always the NCSBN learning extension.

I came back to this thread and wow is all I can say. A little more of the OP's story has come out. If you are an ESL person I would take a basic English class so you can understand the language. That could be your main issue right there. You posted this in a public forum. I think everyone nowdays needs to take an internet class. Especially a social media class. This is social media. You posted this on the internet wanting advice and then when you don't like what you hear, we are the bad guys. Nobody is the bad guy here. Nobody called you stupid. People want to make you think. Think about why you are failing. Think about getting help for a mental issue.

Let me be the first to say PTSD is not fun. It's been horrible for me. But I won't let it control my life. I won't let him have that power over me. This is a site of over 800,000 people from all over the world. Many, many people have overcome great things to become great nurses. Some people have not had anything to overcome and that doesn't mean that they aren't great nurses either. A part of me feels like in today's society we all need to play the underdog role and show what we have to overcome to get to this point. And the people that overcome more are somehow better than others. I disagree with that philosophy. We all have a path in life, we just all take different roads to get there. I don't think people should use stuff as crutches or excuses.

I will reiterate you need to find out why you are failing. This is like running into a brick wall over and over again expecting to get through it. It is not going to work. But if you want to flush more money down the drain, then who am I to argue? It is most certainly your money.

No one was being mean. You needed a dose of reality and it was given to you. What you do with this advice is up to you.

Hi OP! I'm reading the post and saw that there a lot of negative feedback's here. I cant help but make a comment.

Here's an advice. DON'T GIVE UP! DON'T LOSE HOPE AND KEEP ON TRYING!

It doesn't make u bad nurse if you have taken NCLEX a lot of times. There are a lot of great nurses who took it a lot of times and there are a lot of nurses who passed once and end up jobless. Don't let passing dictate your happiness.

I graduated in the Philippines also and I'm preparing to take my NCLEX-RN exams. My sister, a RN (now a NP) for 15 years also graduated in the Philippines, took the boards once and passed it. You have to think that this is just a test. Don' let it rule your life. If you fail, cry if you must but u have to move on. Assess your self if u are going into something like having a baby, getting married, heart broken, death of a love one, etc, you have to finish this first because you cannot focus if your mind is thinking of it. Check the results mailed to you. Look at your strength and weakness and study that. If you are poor in comprehensive, go study the book again and study the questions related to that chapter. Example if u read the GI systems, do questions related to the GI systems. Do at least 150 q's a day. Don't move to the next topic unless your scores are more than 75% (or whatever you wanted it to be). It doesn't matter what book, online review or q&a u are using, just stick to 2 books/cd: one for comprehensive and one for q&a's. Exercise at least 20 mins a day, take breaks, eat healthy and PRAY. Make a schedule and stick to it. If you are working, quit your job or do part time only and just focus in studying. Do this for 2-3 months. Don't take it longer because you'll get bored after. Do this religiously because when you are ready you wont feel stressed or have test anxiety, you will feel confident. DON'T LET ANYONE KNOW YOU ARE TAKING THE EXAM. Just surprise them when u passed.

I hope this helps you.

WE CAN DO THIS! GOOD LUCK!

OK this is the final warning. Please keep to topic and not take pot shots at each other. Further posts that are responding to negative posts and not assist the OP will result in the thread being permanently closed

I have severe anxiety with testing. I remember that while taking the NCLEX, I was having like 600 PVCs in my heart ( I normally get them especially when anxious) - I passed the first time with 75 questions . I had this huge adrenaline rush . I do agree with the above poster , life is a test ! Lol . Work on your test anxiety , maybe if you think, "hey , this is just a test" maybe you can do much better ! Are they going to make you take a refresher course since you failed so many times ?

Thank you very much... I will try... I got my results just now and I passed most of the categories but was only near passing on the infection control and pharmacology.. so i will concentrate on them. In the last test I took I ran out of time and I did not have enough to score for passing on those two other categories.

I have taken my refresher course the moment I found out I failed again.. so far my mock tests are getting me more than 60% in a 75 item and I just finished my test a minute ago and I had 70% out of a 105 from NCSBN. I talked to my mom and she is helping me through my anxiety and told me that I was the one who puts pressure on myself that's why I either pass out or black out mentally the moment I take a test. I have always had this problem since I was young and I didn't even know about it until she told me.

I am taking NCSBN extension, saunders, and lippincott. thank you
