I was denied acceptance at SFSU Accelerated Program through Canada College

I just received my denial letter in the mail yesterday, and my heart sank as soon as I saw the letter because I already knew that I was denied since the envelope was small. This is really frustrating!! I work full time, and attend school part time, and it seems like my hard work is nothing. I'm feeling discouraged right now because this is really the school I want to attend. My experiences, and GPA are excellent, and I also met 2/3 of their supplemental criteria. I also had great recommendation from my Anatomy professor, my manager who's a Registered Nurse, and I volunteer at Stanford Hospital. I'm currently a medical assistant who has experience both clinically and as well in utilization management. I'm not sure what criteria they based my application on? It's very discouraging!!:(

Anybody else received a denial letter from SFSU?

I'm so sorry you didn't get in though - it's just not fair. =/ What more can one do, really??

Are there other schools you've applied to at least? Also, do you know if I can call and ask about admission status?

Thanks! I applied to two other schools, but SFSU is really my first choice, and where I want to go. You should expect an acceptance letter this week. I emailed the coordinator, and she said that this is the week where they mail acceptance letters. Good Luck!

So sorry. That is terrible. That is one of the biggest complaints of nursing students is that so many wonderful, qualified, people get denied. I will keep my fingers crossed on the other schools.

I know that Canada is different, but I can't believe that they don't tell anyone, at least a ballpark, what they use for admission purposes.

i checked my mail today, and i was horrified when i saw the small letter; my heart was crushed, and i totally thought i wasn't accepted.

admitting defeat, i opened it anyway, and to astonishment, it was a letter of acceptance!! omg, i'm dying here...i seriously did NOT expect that.

what was y'alls GPA? I was gonna apply there next year (and also have hospital volunteer experience) but I'm wondering if my 3.4 is even gonna cut it.

Congratulations! Wow! My heart was crushed when I saw and opened the letter telling me that I was denied!! I'm happy for you that you didn't have the same reaction I did.

I really don't know what else they're looking for in a candidate? I'm so ready to get started with this program.

Sorry to hear you were denied. I also found out by checking my status online. I didn't even get my letter yet. I have a 3.8, have three kids, work at a PCA and wrote what I felt to be excellent essays. Who knows what the heck they want. I can go in to find out why, but I am not sure that it is worth it. Good luck on the other schools! I am going to try another. Hopefully it will be the one.

If you have the SFSU login to their admission status page : https://www.sfsu.edu/online/appstat.htm

You should be able to see the status of your application. Mine has been in review into the Nursing program since Feb (After I turned in my transcripts)

Well, in the next couple of weeks more letters should be going out. Where will we fall?
