I was denied acceptance at SFSU Accelerated Program through Canada College

Published

I just received my denial letter in the mail yesterday, and my heart sank as soon as I saw the letter because I already knew that I was denied since the envelope was small. This is really frustrating!! I work full time, and attend school part time, and it seems like my hard work is nothing. I'm feeling discouraged right now because this is really the school I want to attend. My experiences, and GPA are excellent, and I also met 2/3 of their supplemental criteria. I also had great recommendation from my Anatomy professor, my manager who's a Registered Nurse, and I volunteer at Stanford Hospital. I'm currently a medical assistant who has experience both clinically and as well in utilization management. I'm not sure what criteria they based my application on? It's very discouraging!!:(

Anybody else received a denial letter from SFSU?

Hey tgal,

I too am a medical assistant (for five years) and have a 3.8 GPA and good references. I was thinking of applying to the SFSU/Canada College for the 2009-2010 year. After hearing your story it makes me so discouraged. I recently got rejected from SJSU. These programs are ridiculous to me sometimes!!

I'm not really sure what they look for? I even appealed the rejection letter, and the director told me that they don't accept appeal letters, and I have to reapply again next year. However, I got accepted to Ohlone College. I really dont' mind if it's not an accelerated program, at least I will become an RN. Good Luck to you!! Make sure to apply to lots of schools.

I personally have not applied to SFSU, and i'm really sorry to hear the bad news :(

but I heard that many CA schools are very short on instructors for nursing programs. So it's not that you weren't qualified (your guys' GPAs and experience and background are phenomenal!), i think it's just that a lot of schools don't have enough SPACE to have as many students as they want.

Keep trying! I"m sure with your excellent background, you will get in somewhere great!

Hi, I am thinking of applying to the accelerated program at SFSU next year and was wondering if those who were in the program could tell me how they like it (both the good & bad) as well as if they have any advice on the whole application process.thanks!
