I completely believe it. Something similar happened to me, that's how I learned to not trust your coworkers. Never say anything you wouldn't want to get back to everyone on the floor, including your boss. Sorry it happened to you.

Hello.

I work in a medical facility and I complained to my coworker about work, patients and my boss. This coworker has been there for a short time only. And guess what...she went to my boss to tell the boss what i said. It has been going on for a while, but I had no idea she was backstabbing me. How could I be so clueless and naive. and Today my boss finally confronted me. I was surprised I didn't know what to say? Please help me.. how can I not repeat the same mistake in the future?

Keep your mouth shut, your eyes and ears open and trust nobody.

Vent to a friend outside of work or a spouse or someone else.

You have a right to talk about working conditions, as long as you're not slamming other people which you could be sued for slander. A union will back you up on that. If you don't have a union, you do still have rights, unles you work in a right to work state, at which point your comments probably will get you fired. But if it was union you have just cause on your side. But in the future, becareful, unless you work in a facility that has strong union support and solidarity, people generally do tend to back stab you.

The next time you feel like you are at your boiling point and feel yourself wanting to spout off, count to ten. I am serious. It seems sort of childish, but it will save you some grief in the long run.

Don't say anything to anyone that you would not feel comfortable saying in front of an auditorium full of hospital administrators. Using this technique, you will learn to phrase your complaints constructively.

The sad reality is that there are very few people at work that truly care about you. Accept this reality and life will become easier.

MOST of the biggest backstabbing I've dealt with has been with co-workers. Two family. All, no longer a part of my life.

As much as you need to take care of you? You never know what your co-worker thinks he/she has to do to do the same for him/herself...and you might be just right to throw under the bus.

It stinks- but it's life.

absolutely.

and, in general life. you have to make your own happiness, and never give up the idea that you never really know someone. there are too many examples (granted- way to the extreme) of situations where neighbors are interviewed- and they all say "seemed so nice" - this was after the semi-automatic was used to wipe out the family. work is just a smaller version of the neighborhood....just hopefully not as bad :o

What does gender or sexual orientation have to do with anything.... most of the biggest PIAs have been heterosexual catty, petty women. But, my closest friends fit the same hetero/women demographic, and were met at work. The gay guys were generally sweethearts (used to being treated like dung, and often more thoughtful- ime, of course- idiots are still found everywhere :D).

There are idiots across all "lines"..... be careful. Writing off entire groups won't fix the morons. :)

You can bet you are not the only one that has made this mistake but make sure you only make it once, I know I did.

Many years ago.......I got burned by a bitter ex-husband. :angthts:

TRUST NO ONE......I always vented to my Dad......he was the smartest person I knew and I miss him soooo much :crying2:. Now I vent to my Mom and sisters. :redbeathe At work I just keep my mouth shut. They know the basics. I was married and I have 2 kids....a boy and a girl.

After I moved, I also stopped socializing and having people over my house from work...... TMI to feed those petty gosspiy minds....and.....I learned to Never have a better house than your boss.

I totally agree with a previous comment that says TRUST NO ONE, when u look at it, family can even stab u in the back at some points in life so why would a coworker not. Keep a poker face at all times at work u never know when someone is watching or listening. Also dont add any co-workers to your facebook or social media you dont want them going around spreading your personal business either. Sad but nowadays you have to keep it strickly business/pleasure.
