I applied today too! Am trying to figure out what I do next. Do I need to be enrolled in EC to take college-course exams, or can I go ahead and start studying for them? I wanted to get the ones I know I'll need credit for (A/P, micro, the life span one) out of the way first. I can also do the first nurse module also, before enrolling, right? I don't want to enroll too soon so i can avoid taking longer than a year and paying more fees.
Are ppl using actual textbooks to study or these review CDs I am finding on Ebay?
thanks for answering! Good luck to everyone out there!

You have to apply to Excelsior College first by completing an admission application and paying $75. You need to send all your transcripts so that Excelsior can evaluate them. They will not let you enroll into the nursing program until you have done this.
I suggesst that once you get your transcripts evaluated, that you try to take your general ed classess BEFORE you pay the $895 enrollment free. Once you pay the enrollment fee, you have to pay $440 annually until you complete your degree. If you go ahead and take the general ed classes, it will possible save you from having to pay that $440 annual fee. Its very hard to complete the Associates in Nursing degree in a year if you have alot of prequisites to take.
So to recap:
1. Apply to the college and pay $75 ,send transcripts and LPN license
2. Wait to hear from EC. They will tell you all the classes that you need take to complete the degree
3. If you need more that 10hrs of general ed classes, I suggest that you clept or test out of them first before you apply to the EC nursing program.
WHY?
1. Because you risk having to pay the $440 annual fee if you don't complete the program in a year. And this fee
has to be paid every year that you are in the program.
2. EC will not let you take the CPNE until you have less than 10 hrs of general ed. classes left to take
Once you have:
1. Completed all general ed classes or have less than 10hrs to take.
2. Pass "Essentials in Healthcare Safety."
Then
ENROLL in Excelsiors Nursing Program and pay the $895 enrollement fee. Doing it this way will save you time and money.
Good Luck! Sorry to repeat myself.

thanks so much, Kim! Very helpful for all of us. The safety, whatever you called it, is the first Nurse module, right?
