Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

So I've been reading the posts here(found the info in Lunahs esp helpful) and decided this week to get my butt in gear!! I ordered mystudygroup101 notes and applied online today. Any one else here just starting out?

Specializes in Psych, LTC, Acute Care.
thanks so much, Kim! Very helpful for all of us. The safety, whatever you called it, is the first Nurse module, right?

YES it is...

Specializes in EMS, ER, GI, PCU/Telemetry.

you guys that are excelsior grads, i have a question for you about the difference in the AS/AAS.

they're pretty much the same thing except for the electives, right? the reason why i ask is because i have an AAS in EMS and all the electives such as diet and nutrition, anthropology, etc.... so i would like to do the AAS in nursing to be able to transfer all of my credits.

is this something they will tell me when they finish reviewing my transcripts? or do you pick yourself if you want the AS or the AAS?

i'm confused.

thanks guys :)

Specializes in Psych, LTC, Acute Care.

Basically they will tell you which one that you will persue based on your previous credits. They are both the same. I got an AS because most of my prerequistes where health related. An AA is for someone who took electives that were non-nursing such as Business or computer Majors.

I really don't think you will have a problem finding a job after this program. Most managers in hospitals have heard of Excelsior or may have LPN employees going through the program. I would let that be the least of your concerns.

has anyone taken gerentology, bought study guide from studygroup101. was this suffiecient material, what score do you need on practice test before taking real test to pass. didnt do so well on this? need advise...Thanks, shelly

OK I am pretty much convinced that EC might be a good route for me as well. One though where and how do you order the studygroupnotes and how much are they?

Specializes in Med/Surg Nurse, Homecare, Visiting Nurse.

Just check out ebay search what exam your considering taking. For the first exam try searching....excelsior college, health safety, or NC1.

Studygroup101 notes and The College Network guides are always listed there. I just gave all my guides away for all the concepts. I still have NC5 if your interested. I didn't need this one since a good friend (NCgirl) sent me her guide which I took and passed with a B.

I just applied to EC as well , awaiting my acceptance into the program.....good luck
