Human Anatomy / A&P I Club for Fall 2007

Published

I'm starting human anatomy next week, and would love to get a sticky started to keep each other sane. I'm a bit nervous about starting this class, as I really need an A, but work full-time and will also be taking abnormal psych. It's going to be a lot of work! :uhoh3:

Let's help each other out through this forum! :welcome:

So, when are you starting, where are you taking it, and how are you feeling?

Histology scares me a little

me too! thats what we are working on right now as well. i get the difference between the types of tissues and all... but i just cant SEE it when i'm looking at the slides.

That is so great for you guys. My instructor doesn't have no slides of outline. NOTHING. HE just talks for 3 yrs out of his notes and expects people to write down everything he says. I feel bad for the people in my class that has never heard the terms. SO far I got a 95 on my 1st test and an 80 and 90 on two quzzes. WOO HOO!

ooooh! can i join the fun?

i start a&p on sept. 18...every tues and thurs night 6-10pm. i am also working full time, so this should be lovely. lol

actually i am really excited; i took a medical terminology certificate course in march to get a foundation for the lingo and to be a nerd. it was great.

anyone else starting next week? i could really use a sense of community while going through this. i will contribute whenever possible.... :)

here's to spongy, learny brains! (=cheers=)

Hi, I start A&P on the 28th its a 10 week course. I just picked up my book last night. I started reading through all the post and I am ready to freak out..... I know just breathe..in and out...lol. I am glad I came across this site and the idea of recording the lectures. Instead of cleaning the house to music I can do it to my lectures. I have 2 kids and thank goodness the youngest will be in preschool for 4 hours a day so that will be my mandatory study time!!!

What kind of supplies do you suggest I get for class? Just paper and pens? I am so nervous. My book class is on Friday nights and the lab is on Saturday mornings... Thank goodness for this site....

So ive been in my a&p class for almost 3 weeks now and so far its been.....EASY!! I was so scared of this class, but my professor is great! well, hes a little nerdy as far as his sense of humor, (like he makes really pathetically lame jokes) but that just makes him even cuter. He does all his quizzes and tests from his lectures, NOT from the book, so we know exactly what to focus on instead of studying EVERYTHING. He is a retired veterinarian, too, which is really cool! Oh, and also, he offers a 1 hour class before the regular lecture (its only 1/2 a credit but whatever) where he just answers questions and reviews everything for us. Basically extra help. and he said that people that do that class tend to get a MUCH better grade, so I signed up@!! anyway, hopefully, things will stay easy for me and I will get an A!!!

Specializes in Dialysis.

I'm glad that yours is going easy! My prof is a GENIUS, and goes far off on tangents that are way over our heads! She'll draw molecules across the whole bored, and then move on to something different! Uggghhhh! I'm waiting to see what her first test will be like!

HAHA that sounds like fun! yeah, i feel like I lucked out. But then again we are barely into molecules and stuff like that. we havent hit the major systems yet so hopefully it will stay so easy for me! GOOD LUCK!

I am having trouble with one question maybe someone can help me with it? Here it goes, What happens in cells when energy input exceeds energy output? When energy output exceeds energy input? Help !!!!!!!!!! I have looked for this answer and I cant find it or I just cant comprehend what he wants to know!!!!!!!!!!!!

I started A&P I on Aug 20th, The first chapter was easy and I said okay an easy A, but the 2nd and 3rd chapter started getting tough. I am spending an enormous amount of time studying every day to make good grades..My first test I made an 87%; hopefully as time progresses I will improve and make an A on the next test.

survived our first quiz in lab and lec, 20 items each. im pretty confident i aced it =) we're on chapter 3 on lec and it's getting pretty tough w/ the cells and plasma membranes it's functions etc... a lot of info to absorb. hope it gets better .... tonight is our lab night and we're moving into skeletal plan.

anyone else having trouble with slides of tissues? as much as i look, i just dont see anything! they all look alike to me.... show me the drawings and i get it instantly, but the actual slides are hard to distinguish. any tips?

Yeah slides are tough. I'm feeling lucky in that our teacher is showing us the exact slides we will be tested on during the test. Still maybe difficult but at least it will help.

What are you having trouble seeing? Like the Nuclei in each one or something? Remember that most slides are dehydrated so they don't really look like that in the body. For example a cuboidal will look more round since there is no cytoplasm.
