I'm starting human anatomy next week, and would love to get a sticky started to keep each other sane. I'm a bit nervous about starting this class, as I really need an A, but work full-time and will also be taking abnormal psych. It's going to be a lot of work!
Let's help each other out through this forum! :welcome:
So, when are you starting, where are you taking it, and how are you feeling?
Good job, I got a 94 on my first test, too! I also got a 93 on the lab test:)The next test is going to cover muscle and bones too so I'm super scared for that one, there is soo much info to memorize!
Don't worry, you will do fine. I got my practical on bones last Saturday, and I think I did good. It was easier for me to memorize hundred and some bones because I could see them, touch them, then to memorize all different kinds of tissues where I could not see anything. I studied bones two days before my practical and it took me a few hours to learn everything. Honestly, I think AP is not bad at all and before I started I was kind of scared because of what I heard. It all depends on you and how much time you will devote to it.
I definitely agree that it depends on how much time you devote to it. I am a SAHM with four kids under 6, and I work 25 hours/week on nights and weekends - but I am studying my butt off for this class, and so far doing very well. I got a 95 on the first lab quiz, and 100% on my first test in class. It's a lot of info, so I am trying as hard as I can to study for two hours every day, even if it's only in 20 minute sessions here and there.
I really love this class! It is so interesting.

Count me in. I started A&P1 Aug 30 along with English 201 at BMCC in the NYC. We have five exams and a final. The first exam is next week on Macromolecules. It's so much information, I am having a little problem memorizing all the info. I study almost everyday, and I have note cards..at least 27. My professor does not use the book and he is a little old, but funny and nice. I must get an A in this class. I'm sure I will, but pray for me anyway:o
Count me in as well. I start A&P I on Monday. I bought the A&P Coloring books at barnes & noble. A few people told me they really help with information retention. I am very excited. I am 36 yrs old, married, with a 2nd & 3rd grader... so life can get pretty hectic. I will be finished with my prereqs in the spring 2008, and Lord-willing, be able to get into the program in the fall 2008.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Bus. Mngmt., and have been in the finance industry for 15 years. I am doing a career change, hoping to get my ADN in Dec. 2009, and start my new career as an RN. In thhe future, I'd like to work at a hospital who will foot my bill for an RN-BSN program...

Jojieblue- couldn't you do a direct entry BSN if you already have a Bachelor's in another field? I think it would take the same number of years as the ADN and you would come out with your Bachelor's instead.
I got the coloring books too, and I love them! I got them through amazon, and they shipped free.
Tomorrow is my first A&P exam! Yikes! I guess I should quit reading this board & get back to studying! lol
I also have my BS degree... but decided to go to the community college for my ADN. The price is sooooooooooo reasonable & I don't want to take out any loans. So my plan as well is to become an RN & then possibly work towards another Bachelors later.
I'm in noooo hurry! I learned that the first time around.... graduated from college & then thought... now what was the rush all about?!?!?! I've worked in finance for over 10 years.... & decided it's time for a change too! Although I will still be working in finance on the weekends.
I don't have kids... so I can focus on school all during the week which helps. I'm taking A&P I, Psych, Concepts of Phys Activity & Biol Chem. A&P is the most involved class I have EVER taken!!!! Then again, I've been out of school for 12 years so maybe my study skills just aren't up to speed...... yet.
I just wanted to share this - I am taking Anatomy online and a girl in our class shared a wonderful way to memorize the systems in the body. i realize this may be a bit late, but hey if it helps even one person...

Each letter is - you guessed it... the beginning of an organ system! Well, except for the... but you get it :)
I just had my lecture and lab exams today, and I got an A on the lecture one, but I didn't do so well on the lab one. The professor went quickly over the answers, but it seemed like, based on the groans from my classmates, that most of us did poorly on it. It's hard to remember all of the questions from it, but I do know that I totally forgot about the digestive system as one of the organ systems! I'm already studying today's lab notes for the next exam!
I am also doing alright in the lecture but poorly in the lab (so far). Our lab is broken into 2 quizes and 2 tests. Had the first quiz and totally bombed. Don't mean to shift blame, but was told we would be only tested what was in the manual. 4-5 questions were not in the manual, but things he said in class (which he said was just for benefit, not testing). For some reason he doesn't stress what to study also and every one of my other teachers do. Oh well, perhaps more work by myself on it will help me learn more.

i cant seem to distinguish the cells. to me it looks like i am looking at ONE. BIG. CELL. therefore, i cant tell if its cuboidal or columnar or squamous, because i just cant SEE it. i guess the only thing i can do is just practice practice practice.
im not used to not knowing exactly whats going on in class.... and its stressing me out.
