Hello all,
I'm starting this thread for the new applicants for the hrsa nursing scholarship 09-10. Tor prettylady, I think its a random selection. Its the luck of the draw.
I feel he same way shannahan, we have to finish regardless!!!!! I'll be done in May!!!
I think all the applications have been reset. The due date has also changed to May 2010. The process begins again!!!
Congrats again to everyone that got the scholarship....and good luck to everyone reapplying next year!!
2010NRS:
My NSP Vitals status also now has "incomplete" for each category with a May 14, 2010 deadline when I click on the "status" twice. I did not receive any email. I have no idea what this all means, but since they have not contacted me throughout the entire process, and it is now past September 30th, I'm assuming that I was not selected this year. If I am selected at this point, I'll consider it a miracle.
There is also a public service loan forgiveness program. See: http://www.finaid.org/loans/publicservice.phtml
I know that the wait is super frustrating, and getting this scholarship would be like winning the lottery, but keep in mind, its a blessing. Its not something that any of us earned or are entitled to. The HRSA reps aren't given any info, and are probably flooded with calls, people on pins and needles. We just need to be patient, focus on Nursing school, which should be our true priority, and be hopeful. If Nursing is where you are supposed to be, it will all work out. If not this, then something else. Have faith and focus on becoming an AWESOME Nurse!

I am not particularly frustrated, and certainly know that getting this scholarship would be a blessing to all students who recieve it. I never believed that it was something that I was somehow entitled to. I just don't think that the reps given students false information is helping the situation. I think honesty would be the best answer. Maybe informing students that they are not sure would be best. I can't use the scholarship even if I was awarded it.( I rolled my acceptance to march) I am just excited to see all the other students who are blessed to get it. Because HRSA is helping students out (with our own tax dollars might I add) does not mean that we should not be provided with accurate information and not given award decisions by the due date without any notification.

I saw that on my profile as well. I freaked out and thought maybe somehow I hadn't completed everything afterall and will be disqualified.
I'm so done thinking about this. If it happens it happens. If not, I will still complete nursing school. I'll just have to work a little harder, that's all. I am 1 month away from being halfway done - I'm going to focus on that!
