  1. Wow everyone! Orientation is almost here!! I am so excited! I can't wait to meet all of you on Wednesday!
  2. Just wanted to share some info...I have a 2.9 GPA in undergrad, about 3.0 in my prequisites and I have applied to three nursing schools and accepted to every one. Don't let people discourage you because of your gpa, it's not the greatest but it doesn't mean that you would have a hard time getting in nursing school. My strategy was to apply only to 2nd degree programs where there is less competition. It is true most traditional nursing programs and community colleges are extremely hard to get into to, but with 2nd degree programs the applicant pool is smaller and less competitive. Your bachelors degree will be your ticket into nursing school...I know very well because it was mine..GOOD LUCK!!!
  3. I completed my 09-10 application march of last year because I thought I would be going attending a different school. I eventually switched everything to west chester. I just don't think it is fair that I would need to come out of pocket or get a private loan when I have stafford loans available to assist me. Especially when I need to come up with the money in a matter of days...
  4. is everyone aware that there's a possibility that financial aid may not package our summer aid in time? I was told that I would need to cover summer 1 out of pocket in the event that they can't get it done in time. I currently have a financial hold on my account and in danger of having my classes dropped. Is anyone else having this issue?
  5. Hello everyone, I am new allnurses.com. I am glad to see that there is a site where I can communicate with nurses from all over. I have a question. I recently applied to St joseph Hospital school of nursing located at 8th girard ave in philadelphia, PA. It is an accelerated one year RN program. I am somewhat concerned because I don't know much about the school. They don't even have a website. I wm currently working on prequisites to start the program in november. It is fairly new and just opened up about three years ago. I would love to get the input of someone that knows about the program or has graduated from it...thanks a lot.
