  1. Wow everyone! Orientation is almost here!! I am so excited! I can't wait to meet all of you on Wednesday!
  2. Just wanted to share some info...I have a 2.9 GPA in undergrad, about 3.0 in my prequisites and I have applied to three nursing schools and accepted to every one. Don't let people discourage you because of your gpa, it's not the greatest but it doesn't mean that you would have a hard time getting in nursing school. My strategy was to apply only to 2nd degree programs where there is less competition. It is true most traditional nursing programs and community colleges are extremely hard to get into to, but with 2nd degree programs the applicant pool is smaller and less competitive. Your bachelors degree will be your ticket into nursing school...I know very well because it was mine..GOOD LUCK!!!
  3. I completed my 09-10 application march of last year because I thought I would be going attending a different school. I eventually switched everything to west chester. I just don't think it is fair that I would need to come out of pocket or get a private loan when I have stafford loans available to assist me. Especially when I need to come up with the money in a matter of days...
  4. is everyone aware that there's a possibility that financial aid may not package our summer aid in time? I was told that I would need to cover summer 1 out of pocket in the event that they can't get it done in time. I currently have a financial hold on my account and in danger of having my classes dropped. Is anyone else having this issue?
  5. Darren, I just recieved my official letter yesterday. I am going to send my deposit sometime this week so I am unsure what happens after that. But I will keep you posted about the book list if I get it!!!
  6. Im worried as well. We are due to start in a little under two months and I have nothing straightened out.. I will be grateful to get my admissions packet and acceptance letter by the end of the week. I also am interested in our book list I want to try to get the books online at a cheaper price before classes start.
  7. Hey everyone I called Dr Monturo first who informed me that she wasn't sure, but believed that full time in the summer was 6 credits. She then directed me to financial aid. I called financial aid office and spoke with a rep who assured me that all students in every program at wcu was eligible for federal aid as long as they took a minimum of 6 credits fall, spring or summer. We are taking 9 credits this summer, so based on what this lady is saying we should be fine. Im hoping this is the case, but like I said I havent recieved the email that others recieved so Im not 100% sure
  8. Wait a minute!!!! I think we need to get confirmation from someone else in financial aid because there is no way for any student to be full time in the summer, in fact most schools will only allow 6 credits during summer sessions..So something must be up..Im going to get in contact with financial aid on monday, I'll speak with the head of the department if I need to, but we need to get the bottom of this!
  9. yeah, I dont know whats going on...First I recieved a email stating I was accepted about a month ago then a few days later I recieved a letter that I had to sign back and return and thats it! I havent even recieved a formal acceptance letter...So I have not recieved the email that you are refering to..I think financial aid thing would have been nice to know a little sooner since I'm not able to secure any type of private funding.. i hoping that everything will work it self out!
  10. Wow that could pose a big problem...I never heard of a school that refuse to give you aid because you are a partime student...This makes me very confused because Dr Monturo stated that we could use our unused loans from undergrad..Does west chester offer any of their courses online????
  11. hey everyone I went to my interview at WCU last week and I am very nervous....I am scared that I may not get accepted...I was wondering if anyone has gotten accepted since the first wave of people had been notified? She told me if you are called for an interview your chances of getting in is around 75%, but I didn't have the greatest undergrad GPA either...Im soooo nervous
  12. Thanks Lefty Lou, Being able to finance the program was a concern for me, but it sounds like federal stafford loan covers the program for the most part. So I guess my only issue now is to get accepted!
  13. Does anyone know if federal student loans would cover the cost of this program or do we need to seek private lenders? I also wanted to know if West chester offered any scholarships for this program?? I know that drexel offers their absn students nothing...just wondering if it was different at West Chester.
  14. Just wanted to get a since of where everybody was commuting from...Im coming from philadelphia catching septa for the most part..
  15. I recently submitted my application for west chester. From what I hear ALL prequisites must be completd at the time of application. I guess you could take your prequisites at west chester, but you would save a lot of money if you would take them at your local community college...Just have to make sure you enroll in you A&P classes as soon as they become available they close quickly. My friend has been trying to get into A&P at dccc for 2 semesters now...She told me that the class closed 2 days after it opened!
