Hrsa 08-09 Nursing Scholarship

I thought I would start a thread for those who have applied, do that we can keep each other posted on what is going on with the process. Also here to promote tons of positivity for everyone.

I too sent Ms. Joyner an email last week, and no response....

Can someone who got the scholarship last year tell us when they approximately rec'd their first payment?

my family and i were also blessed w/ a hrsa scholarship. here's the info i received on payments:

"if your fall 2008 classes began in july (and you were enrolled for more than half of that month), you will receive 4 months of stipend support for july, august, september and october.

if your fall 2008 classes began in august (and you were enrolled for more than half of that month), you will receive 3 months of stipend support for august, september and october.

if your fall 2008 classes began in september (and you were enrolled for more than half of that month), you will receive 2 months of stipend support for september and october.

the first stipend payment should be deposited into your bank account by the last week of october (no later than the first week of november). after you receive this initial stipend payment, you will then receive a monthly stipend at the end of each month for that month's stipend (i.e. the stipend you receive at the end of december will be for the month of december). "

ms. joyner emailed me back to say that payment should be deposited by 11/7

Hey did you all get the email yesterday about not sending the analyst and online payment system email?? Geez, an email about not having sent the e-mail they were promising to send.... Oh well.

I did, my concern isn't so much about the e-mail as it is the payment coming soon. Will that be delayed?

I know they say they have until Nov 7th to send it but I hope it is closer to the end of October as discussed earlier.

Can't wait until the tuition is paid, I see the first stipend and can stop worrying.

If I recall correctly....but I cannot predict what they will do this year...I received my first payment at the end of October last year. It has been a year and I have slept a little since then so I cannot give an exact date. FYI...once in the past year they have been late putting my check into my account....but it was still there by the 3rd of the month...I contacted the person in charge of my scholarship and she took care of it....thank God cause my rent is a direct draft and would have bounced...that would be bad

i spoke with Yolanda today and she said they were having issues with the online payment system and that instead of November 7th they are anticipating that it will be more like the middle to end of november before we receive any money. :banghead:

sorry hill. i wish i weren't serious. seems that after several years of awarding this scholarship they would have a "system: but it appears that the payment process is just as annoying as the application process.

If that is the case I'm not sure what I'm going to do, I've applied for no other aid as my school just barely got enrolled for federal financial aid and turned down another program as it came with a work loan agreement and this was the better deal. We need the stipend as gas prices to drive to school and back and the clinical site are killing us. I'm calling tomorrow as I thought the end was in sight.

:sniff: That is awful! That is the reason why people hate dealing with the govt, you are always on their time and there is never a sense of urgency. When I called Mrs. Joyner, last week, she told me that we should get the letters this week. But, I guess that was just to get me off the phone. I was really hoping to have the money by now due to rent is due, and I still have a balance at school. This sucks! I was so excited about the scholarship but now its like is it even going to happen. This is so disappointing. I also got the email and it was so matter-of -fact like we are worrying them, I am the one with the worries because I have bills that I have to pay and I was depending on the scholarship money to pay them. im am so upset. I was really depending on that money. I don't have any money left to get me through the next month.
