I know it is entirely too early but I wanted to get a thread going for all of you who are planning to apply for the NSP this upcoming year. I know it is becoming more and more popular and there are always questions and people wanting to share experiences and such so I hope this thread will become helpful! I have signed up to get the alert for when the application is available for the 2013-2014 FY and hope to meet others who will be applying as well.
I was eagerly looking for the congratulations email but I see here that I have not since most people are getting the under review category. I had a 3.23 GPA and EFC of 0. A friend of mine had a higher GPA and also a lower EFC. Man I really needed this scholarship. If I do not get it then its on to MAsters in Science in Health Care Admin for me. Which is also a good profession. I received scholarships for that program and tuition reimbursements. Congrats to the people that got it. I still have a little hope because it could say "rejected" instead of "under review"

Indeed! I lost a little hope when I saw that some people had access to the scorecard and rubric for how the applications are "graded," prior to submitting their applications. It was fairly detailed and would have been so helpful. But I am just glad that if worst comes to worst for me, I will just use loans and bask in student debt lol
I broke down & called this evening to get an update. I asked if they ever extend an award period due date since August 31st is only 2 days away & obviously they are closed on Saturday. She said (unfortunately) that they technically have until the end of September seeing as how there are so many documents to review. I told her I'm sure that I wasn't the only RN who was going to be "thrilled" about having to wait another entire month to hear something! Grrr! I'm so sick over this & wish the suspense was over! However, she did reiterate that a "under review" status was still a good thing. Aaahhh! Here's to waiting 30 more days but good luck!!!

When I came across the HRSA scholarship program I was literally 2 days shy of the submission deadline. I just found out I was accepted into nursing school that same week...I thought it was a sign of some sort. I knew it would be a long shot, especially that I applied last minute. I figured I will be patient and hope for the best. This week I have been the most anxious ever. I have been loging on to the site and my yahoo account compulsively in hopes for a status change... "Under Review" has been the most torturing status to see. I know it still leaves me in the running but then my mind runs wild. I start to think that maybe I accidently deleted my congrats email and then harrassingly call the HRSA customer service line to only have them reconfirm what I am capable of seeing online.
Here I am again 2 days shy of accepted candidate deadline...Gosh I hope to be on that list!
If not I want to say congrats to those that have been accepted and look forward to applying next year...Godspeed to all Nursing Students!
