I know it is entirely too early but I wanted to get a thread going for all of you who are planning to apply for the NSP this upcoming year. I know it is becoming more and more popular and there are always questions and people wanting to share experiences and such so I hope this thread will become helpful! I have signed up to get the alert for when the application is available for the 2013-2014 FY and hope to meet others who will be applying as well.
My status is still "under review." I am thankful that I still have a chance, but the waiting is discouraging. I am surprised to hear that many of this year's recipients are RN students because the program description noted that MSN students would be given preference. I am a new MSN student with a 3.79 GPA from my undergrad at the University of Florida and I have an EFC of 0.
I don't think they give preference to MSN students, they just shifted funds so that RN students get half the funding and NP students get the other half. I am a NP student and a recipient.
Got my official award letter yesterday, I can log on to the site as a participant!
Good luck to all, I talked to another friend who graduated from nursing school last year, and her classmate that received the scholarship found out in the middle of September. There is still hope out there!! =)
I'm still in final review as well. I think it might be due to when you received the first initial email or from who is assigned to our file. I wasn't notified until the 7th of August. Past recipients posted that it was 4-6 weeks between receiving the initial email to when they received the official email. Maybe next week we will know something.
