2013-2014 HRSA Nursing Scholarship Program

I know it is entirely too early but I wanted to get a thread going for all of you who are planning to apply for the NSP this upcoming year. I know it is becoming more and more popular and there are always questions and people wanting to share experiences and such so I hope this thread will become helpful! I have signed up to get the alert for when the application is available for the 2013-2014 FY and hope to meet others who will be applying as well.

I called them a few minutes ago and they said that they now actually have into October to notify everyone.

They seem to be very behind this year. I even noticed that in the initial award letter they didn't even specify how many awards were being given out this year like they have in the past which could be a sign they haven't determined that yet.

....if someone backs out or doesn't qualify for the award, their slot opens up. I have no idea how many people got the "congratulations" letters (whose status also changed to "finalist"). Aug 31 was supposed to be the day final awardees are notified and Sept the rejections. But it does make sense that if someone awarded by tomorrow decides they don't want it, or if they don't qualify, that the award would then roll over to the next person on the waitlist.

Thank you so much! I'm super happy about this. Male from Kansas. In 2nd year of an ADN program. 3.8 GPA early August notification. Best of luck to everyone!

My status is still "under review." I am thankful that I still have a chance, but the waiting is discouraging. I am surprised to hear that many of this year's recipients are RN students because the program description noted that MSN students would be given preference. I am a new MSN student with a 3.79 GPA from my undergrad at the University of Florida and I have an EFC of 0.
