HRSA Nurse Corp Loan Repayment Program 2023

Updated:   Published

Hello fellow RN's/APRN's,

Just finished my application for the HRSA Nurse Corp Loan Repayment Program 2023 program! Nervous but excited to see what comes of it, I see that the competition is extreme but it looks like over the past few years they've been given more funding to award!

Question as well: Does disadvantaged background apply to RN/APRN's applying or only to nurse faculty? I included the form anyway, just in case it helped my case as I am the first in my family to attend college.

Here are my qualifiers:

FNP-C

Behavioral Health - Pediatrics

DTI <100% - Just at 0.95%  (This is the total qualifying education loan balance divided by base annual salary)

HPSA Score: 13

Best of luck everyone!

Super nervous and excited, but hopeful. 1st time applying. I did check Experian and had a credit check from HRSA on 5/8! So finger's crossed

Qualifiers:

FNP

Hospice

DTI: 120%

HPSA score: 14

Good luck to everyone! And please, as you get updates post so we all know

Did anyone here apply for the NHSC loan repayment program?

I applied for that one as well.

I may start another thread for that one.   I am impatiently, hopefully waiting.

I currently work at a site with a HPSA score of 15, and my DTI ratio is over 100%. I had a credit check on May 2nd and I think I may have a good chance because I am a women's health NP.

I received an amazing job offer at another FQHC in the area, and they are looking for me to start in August. Would I still be eligible for nurse corps LRP if I started the new job?

I strongly suggest advocating to start the new job after your HRSA contract is signed. You are allowed to change sites, I have done this, but you are not allowed to change in the middle of an application cycle. You also need to make sure the site you are going to has an equal or higher HPSA score. If it is lower, they will not approve the transfer. Once you have been awarded, the transfer process is pretty simple.

Congratulations and good luck!

Hello all,

I am a current NCLRP recipent, awarded in 2021, and just received notification today that I have been awarded continuation. With that being said, in 2021 for my initial contract, I found out in Mid-August. Someone asked if NCLRP is taxed and YES IT IS TAXED! That bill does not apply to this program. For my personal situation and student loan debt amount, NCLRP is beneficial to me, despite the taxes.

It's a lengthy process, but worth the wait. Good luck to everyone!

Hi all! Does anyone know if you are allowed to apply to more than one HRSA loan repayment program? I applied for the Nurse Corps program and am still waiting to hear back. I discovered today that there is a new program called Pediatric Specialty Loan Repayment, which is focused on mental health. I am a peds NP working in a residential eating disorder facility so I might be eligible for this. Our site point-of-contact is going to look into getting us listed as an eligible site. If we are able to, I'm wondering if I can apply for this program while I am waiting to hear back from the other? I know I can't accept both awards but, if chosen for both, would I be able to pick which one I take? Thanks in advance!

Hi all. I am wondering if anyone has had their credit check that is less than 100% DTI, this year or in previous years? I am at 97%, tier 2 and tier one for critical shortage. Has anyone had there credit checked since the initial time period in early May? Still trying to stay hopeful and keep my fingers crossed!

Thanks so much for this information, super helpful. Question, your 1st year in 2021, when did that cycle close? As in, how long was it from submitting the application to when you were initially notified that you had received it? Also, what tier where you in? Really hoping that if you found out about your continuation already, maybe the new initial's will start going out before too long.

I got an email from them to turn in estimated payoff amount for each of my loans.
