12 hr shift makeup routine

Looking for makeup routine recommendations... I have very oily skin and an uneven skin tone with redness. My everyday makeup routine just does not cut it for me while I'm at work. Less than halfway through my shift I'm oily and red and look way more run down and exhausted than I actually feel which really doesn't help when it's 3am and all you can think about is sleeping. Tips? Brands you'd suggest?

Also, going "all natural" is not an option

Thanks!!!

I have combination acne prone skin and I swear by Maybelline BB cream. The one with the green cap. Although both work pretty good but for night time you don't need the SPF 30. I apply Paula's Choice mattifying fluid after washing my face then apply the BB cream all over my face and finish with a thin layer of Every Day Minerals Mate foundation, a little blush, mascara and lip gloss and that's it. I like to look natural at work.

Is it an option for you to wash your face on your break and reapplying your make up?

L'oreal foundation and blushes. I don't always use mascara, but usually eyeshadow, also L'Oreal. My oily skin also changed a bit with age, but I still use some powder on occasion to even up the original job.

I use Lancome 24hr liquid foundation- it works pretty well for me. For redness, you can use a green tinted primer to offset it.

Clinique makes a pore refiner and a primer that are both good. However, they are expensive, and you only get a small quantity. I have extremely oily skin. What has worked well for me is Avon Magix face perfector, under Bare Minerals foundation and mineral veil. The Avon tube lasts pretty well, too.

Try bare minerals, I love it, it's super natural looking and just covers up the bad stuff. I use it every day for floor nursing. And like someone previously said, Sephora or Ulta can help you choose, and they carry everything all in one spot.

Bare Minerals really works for me. :)

I know you said going natural is not an option but it will truly help your skin in the long run. Or at least like someone said don't cake it on in attempt to cover-up. The more you put on, the more you dry out your face, the more oily your skin will be to compensate.

But if you really want to wear makeup, like others said I would go to Ulta/Sephora and ask for help! Good thing is if something doesn't work they let you return it even after it's been used! And for me the days when I do wear makeup I use some primer, and then Tarte: amAzonian clay airbrush foundation. (Powder)

Like someone else said, less powder is better. Powder just gets cakey no matter what you do in my experience.

Lately ive just been going the natural route. Even though your skin is oily, make sure its still moisturized

I use Stilla illuminating BB cream. Its really lovely and gives me a nice complexion and its not too heavy.

I use a primer on my eyelids and then a Mac Pro long wear Paint pot, I use "painterly". I just use my finger and blend it all over my eyelid up to my brow. It is just a nude color but evens everything out and make a good base if I want more color. I have a fairly light skin tone in winter when im not tan. This stuff sticks all day! Using a bit of a highlighter near your brow may be all you really need/want.

I might use a subtle gold/bronze on my eye as well to brighten them up.

Sometimes i use eyeliner- I love Mac Gel eyeliner. Once you get the practice with the brush its the best. Doesn't go anywhere.

Then mascara. I find mascara the most helpful in helping me look awake and an evened out skin tone from what I do above. But this for me is a good day :) Normally I just dont care, and wear no makeup at all. But the above should only take 5 minutes at the most.

I am a makeup queen when it comes to that sort of thing. I'm the type of person who goes to Sephora and buys everything new just to try. My skin tone sounds almost exactly like yours and I've found that neutrogenia (you may be a nurse when autocorrects that to neutropenia) shine control primer, followed by Makeup Forever's Stay matte foundation and topped off with a little of neutrogenia's shine control translucent powders keeps my makeup looking brand new all day long even if I get sweaty and oily and gross.

I had the same problem...until I bought Kat von d foundation. I now use smash box primer also with urban decay setting spray. This makeup is so good I coded someone and it didn't smudge.

This is going to sound so gross but I found it on Pinterest, it works! Instead of buying super expensive make up primer, I use Monistat Anti-Chafing cream, not kidding,. It's $8/tube and lasts for months. It's the same ingredients as many of the major make up primers, It works too good, I have had to tone down my make up application because it sticks to the primer so well. I am oily/dry depending on season and it works well for both.

I only wear primer, very small dollop of foundation, light blush, mascara, possible some neutral eye shadow, and mascara to work. I have found the lighter the better at work due to sweating, etc. I hardly sweat either and but at work it gets hot.
