Even though it is sooo popular, I love the name Michael. Also my boyfriends name (we'll prob marry).

Also Henry or Charles. I like Jack, but it is also gaining popularity again.

Girls: Serafina or Sophia or Lyra.... (anyone read his dark materials? heh)

Specializes in 5 yrs OR, ASU Pre-Op 2 yr. ER.

Heard the name 'Christophel' for a boy the other day instead of 'Christopher'. I thought that was neat.

Specializes in midwifery, NICU.
My sons are Ethan Eric and Jake Eric. Eric is daddy... I know, I know, but I couldn't not name my second after his daddy also. I love Ben (just Ben). I also love Alistair, but I'd never actually have the courage to name my son that! I like simple boy's names that still have a traditional feel.

No girls (yet), but if I ever have a daughter, she'll be Eden Elly (el-ee). We are very picky about girl's names and that was all I could ever come up with that we both loved!! lol...

We also have a Hebrew/Biblical theme going on with the first names...

heather!!! Alistair, like your own name, is scottish and a name to be proud of!!! How much more traditional can you get??? Alistair has many different spellings, check them out, you may find a different way that just clicks with you. I liked craig alistair for my no. 2 babe,( BUT!, she's a girlie called Dee!!) but by the time I had no 3 , Blane Curtis, i had changed my mind. LOOK AT YOUR BABE, then you will know if the name you have chosen is them!

my name is shawna......my mom thought she was gonna have twins so it was gonna be shawn/shawna....just me though!

i named my 2 daughters sydney (before it caught on) and ellie. our last name is french so they sound really good with it. syd is name after a great-uncle that died (i actually considered the name bunny for her-a stripper name if i ever heard one!) and i think of ellie mae clampett or miss ellie on dallas when i hear that name..it always makes me smile....ellie was named after my grandfather ellis and for all of those reasons thats how she got her name.

about 10 years ago there was a name association book about what people thought when they heard certain names....for example, and these are their words, not mine, the names crystal, brandy, or lexi were associated with people of lower income/education etc... my daughter sydneys name gave the impression of a person being strong-willed, fun, a partier. again, paraphrasing the book-not my opinion!

its definately an interesting read...i am sure there are copies or similar versions somewhere. i'm sure they don't have good things to say about the name ellie! but we like it and there is a history behind it..i didn't just pick it out of a romance novel or something!

Oh I forgot...

My friend is from Scotland and she named her daughter Albany, which means "illusion of Scotland" in Gaelic (or something).

I think its pretty because its so meaningful.

I once knew a couple who had a third child many years after their first two.

They named him Last Chance, although he was called by his second name.

I am partial to my own sons' names;

Trevin

Keagan

Liam

Had I been blessed with a daughter she would have been Hanna or Ella.
