Hi everyone! I start school in 3 weeks and i'm so excited! I am however short 1,000$ and i'm rattling my brain trying to figure out where to come up with the funds for school. I have already applied and received FASFA and government loans and applied for many scholarships. Without this 1,000 i will be unable to attend. Can anyone point me in the right direction, i have no idea where to go and also i have extremely poor credit as does my mother. so loans are out of the question. thank you in advanced.

Prism Career institute is fine and if you can find me a school for less than a 1k or a school for even less than 5k i'll be impressed. it is a highly priced school but i need to attend school now and i cannot wait any longer. There are plenty of lpn jobs in NJ right now and i will pass my boards but thanks anyway...i already got a 17k student loan and a 8$ pell grant so yes im only short a 1000$ thank you everyone who has commented on this i am going on a payment plan. i appreciate all your input.

Kinda OT, but I attended an accelerated BSN program at a large state school. Worked FT in retail while living with my mother, paid half of utilities, car payment, insurance, my cell, and gas/food. Granted, I qualified for the pell grant, I escaped school with less than 6K in school loans. I was the only one that paid towards my schooling.

Paying 25K for a LPN program blows my mind.

Thats just my two cents.

Continue on :)

There are not plenty of jobs for new grad LPNs in NJ. There are an abundance of inexperienced new grad LPNs with hundreds applying for a single job. Many employers have certain schools that they prefer to hire graduates from, most often the public vocational schools with strong reputations and high NCLEX pass rates. There are many more opportunities for LPNs with 1-2-3 years paid experience.

Can you afford to be unemployed 6-12 months post graduation? (NJ does not offer temporary or GPN permits so you cannot be hired until you pass the NCLEX and NJBoN issued a license which can take 6-8 weeks after you submit your application post graduation. Your loans will be due at that point. (Day of graduation if private/unsubsidized, $17,000 means you have private loans as that is higher than the maximum for federal loans ). Something to think about. You need to know what you are getting into now so you are not surprised by reality later.

Mine too, especially considering that using my community college system, I'll be able to finish my current LPN program, then take all my prereqs, and then bridge to RN for less than that.

Same here. I graduated from a traditional state school with my BSN 4 years ago for basically the same cost.

I paid 7500.00 including books, gas, and what nots for my LPN degree. Im paying 6,300 for my RN. I cannot believe people would pay that much money for job thay pays 15.00 to 22.00 dollars per hour. It took me 6 months to find a job. That was 5 years ago. Good luck to you.

Why do you need to attend school now? What consequences will you face if you put it off 1 semester to earn the money you are lacking? How much research other programs and their cost before deciding on your current institution?

My pre-reqs, diploma program, and RN-to-MSN bridge are going to cost less than 25K all together.

I don't know what your reasons for being hellbent on going to this school are OP, but I will warn you (from experience) that taking on that amount of debt that young can affect your entire life negatively. I would advise you to do everything you can, even to selling stuff on Ebay or craigslist, to reduce the amount of money you borrow. Good luck.

I paid 33k for my LPN, I also got a job within 2 weeks of my Licence, I also went to a school that got shut down for fraud. Soooo I think the "can you get a job" comments are irrelevent. Granted I don't like in NJ but still.

Idk why would she put herself into so much debt when there is a less expensive option available? Spending that much money for an LPN program is ridiculous IMO!

A lot of us do that because the cheaper alternatives are more impacted and difficult to get into. I'm incurring 17k in loans, of a 29k program in order to achieve my time frame.

No wait lists, some of us couldn't wait 3 years to get into an one year program and will pay more.
