Just out of curiosity - how old where you when you started nursing school and what kind of school did you go to before - i.e. high school, four year college, 2 year, etc.?
Personally, I am graduating with my BA in psychology in May and entering an ASN program in September so I will be 22.
:)
I started Nursing school at 31 yrs old and will have my LPN a couple months shy of my 33rd birthday. (its a year program but I was born in October). I will (if all things go right) have my ADN by Dec 2010 when I am 34 and my Nurse-Midwife Masters by 2013 when I am 37 or if I skip a year before starting that, when I am 38. So I will basically spend all of my 30's in school. Sure do hope I'm no longer restless after this one, because this is my 3rd degree (4th if you count the Social Work degree I was taking pre-reqs for right out of high school).
I'm with the more "mature" crowd here. I'm starting a MSN program this fall and plan to complete it August 2011 as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. I'm 43 and not yet an RN...I'll get to that later this year.
I had my kids early in life, have been in and out of school a few times, and worked as a Certified Medical Assistant off/on since 1993. It's been great preparation for a future as a primary care provider.
I was 48 when I started LPN school and finished when I was 49. Then started RN program when I was 52 and will graduate in 4 weeks. Yeah...it has been a long road. I wish I had started my career earlier but was a supportive military wife for 23 yrs to my husband. I did not go to nursing school until we retired from the military. I am enjoying the challenge and love my new career and plan on working as long as my body and mind will hold out. No retiring for me.
