How was Nurses Week celebrated at your Facility

Nurses General Nursing

I know these are difficult financial times. To acknowledge Nurses Week at our facility, someone taped a sheet of paper outside a door leading to our unit that said "HAPPY NURSES WEEK".

That was all. Not that we needed to have a luxurious luncheon or flowers or candy. This was a computer generated sheet with the words. I guess at least it wasn't handwritten in magic marker and the words were spelled correctly.:loveya:

I'm not a nurse but work at a pretty big hospital. They had masseuses come in for shoulder/back massages or hand massages with wax dip. Chaplain did blessing of hands. All units got huge beautiful flower bouquets delivered and every unit I went to had cake, cookies, candy and/or snacks at the station. There were several lunches and dinners and breakfast for the overnight crews. I don't know what type of gifts if any were given out, but everything else seemed pretty good.

It wasn't even mentioned. Oh well...shouldn't be surprised!

We didn't celebrate Nurses' Day or Nurses' Week. Instead, we're going to have something called Nursing Home Week, with "themed" celebrations each day next week. Hmmm.........whatever. As long as there's free food and we can wear jeans, I'm all over it! :smokin:

We are celebrating Nurses Week at our facility...There are banners hanging throughout our hospital stating "Blank Hospital Supports our Nursing Staff"; They have a big screen TV in the main hall near the cafeteria playing a continuous slide show with pictures of all the nursing staff set to music such as the ER theme song, MASH theme song (very cute pics, too!); special themed meals in the cafeteria; donuts in the break room; last week they took group pics of the nurses and made them into posters which are hanging on the units. I feel appreciated.

Oh, and as a side note; we lost one of our very best RNs to cancer this week. So, we had a Florence Nightingale candle lighting ceremony at the funeral home. Very fitting tribute to a wonderful person. May she rest in peace.

When was nurse's day? My hospital just sent out their weekly "You suck notes" to everybody like they always do. But we had some celebration for the Doctors a few weeks ago every unit had to make a card for the physicians which is nice, but I knew when Nurses's week/day came around nothing would be said, and guess what? I was right.

no nurses week for us, it is now Health Care Workers Week, that way "everyone " is included, because otherwise, the other depts would be upset.

Our facility did nothing for nurses week this year but that was decided at employee meetings that were held to get input on how we would like the hospital to deal with the recession. I will happily give up a free lunch and mug with hospital logo in return for them continuing to honor tuition reimbursement, loan repayment, and the matching 401k.

It wasn't.

No celebration whatsoever.

No Nurse's Day.

Same here....sucks doesn't it.

The worst was "Health Care Workers Week". Yuck. Sounds like something our facility would do, since their motto towards nurses is: "You're no better than anybody else, so don't try to delegate, prioritize or think you're special." It may even be in the mission statement. We couldn't even have "nurse' on our name badges for awhile, we had to be a "clinical partner". They'd pay us all the same too if they could get away with it.

We got cookies from outside organizations. We could purchase a 32 oz. soda in a "souvenier cup" (picture cheezy baseball stadium cup) from the cafeteria. I also work at a non-profit who is in the process of purchasing additional hospitals. Yeah, right, they don't have money . . . Oh, and they also presented us with notices that if we don't punch out for lunch three times a month without having our charge RN sign off on our timecards that we'll be subject to reprimand, and then possible termination.

Happy Nurse's Day.

We got scissors!? Not even nice ones, I thinked they were old ones they ordered in bulk for EMS. And they threw some candy bars on the table in the breakroom. I would have preferred a pen - that I would actually use.

No celebration whatsoever.

No Nurse's Day.

Last year we got insulated lunch bags with the company logo. This year NOTHING. And I work for a huge health system that has tons of money and is in the process of acquiring yet another hospital. Kinda sad if u ask me...:uhoh3:
