  1. I have that problem when I speak to someone that doesn,t speak english. I find myself raising my voice....it is silly.... they do not understand English and I catch myself speaking to them as if speaking louder is going to make them understand my english better.....when I do that I feel really silly...like duhhhhhhhhhh. Try coaching yourself as others have stated...prior to going in the room. If they react differently that you expect...ask the family or the pt how it sounds to them...Once a pt or family member realizes you think enough of them to get their opinon you will find that they are more than willing to help you correct things like that and it builds a better repoire between you and them. Honesty is always the best policy and you will find that your problem will become a thing of the past very quickly...Good Luck TuTonka
  2. AMEN....I too am a nurse with 30+ years under her belt and I am experiencing the same F....ing Bulls...t. If you are not a beauty queen, young , or a new grad you are out of luck. I do not kiss a>> so I am still looking for a job in this area that I am coming to hate and everyone connected to it. Med techs? They are a joke.. a bad one if they are being hired instead of real nurses. The way you see nursing is and was accurate all the back to the 80s but hey this is like all the companies the gov. is bailing out now . Hmmmm let see they give themselves very large bonuses and pay raises while the company goes belly up..Why should they care ... they have what they want. Ladies and Gentlemen we now have the ME Generation calling the shots...where do you reallllllly think nursing is going to go. TuTonka:angryfire
  3. Sweet ome that is what keeps nurses in nursing and yes it does...it makes it all worth it. TuTonka alias Bawl Bag
  4. I have seen that too often orrrrrrrrrrr the good ol' boy system I know a friend of a third cousin by marrage 3x removed and they need a job Ms so and so can you help them out? Makes me want to puke. TuTonka:angryfire
  5. Either way it is not safe on any shift 11 to 1 nurse pt ratio is dangerous for the pts, the nurse, and the Facility...when in the he(( are they going to wake up to the situation? MAH over poor nursing care d/t over staffing TuTonka
  6. Wellll you keep on keeping on like that and you will grow BIG bRASS ONES lolol WAY TOO FUNNY. Tuonka:coollook:
  7. Many good people left OK. due to the Bad ones :)
  8. Be careful at tax time and know that your sign on bonus without taxes WILL cost you at the end of the year. TuTonka
  9. DO NOT MEET HIM. There was a recent news article pertaining to a serial killer meeting people via Craig's list and so far two women have been murdered. He obtains their information and then contacted them to meet about a "So called" employment opportunity. It is not safe to assume that this person is really a Lawyer or some creep and according to some my last statement would be redundant. TuTonka
  10. Yes but in Okla they keep workmans comp people legally listed as working so those percentages of unemployment do not reflect the actual number of people not working. TuTonka
  11. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm relative to What? Tutonka
  12. So it is told that Oklahoma is a low income state, however their taxes are not and the cost of living is rising and the income is not! So it is told. There it is not uncommon to be told you are hired at blah blah and your first check shows you make much less than you were hired in for, so it is told. Good luck. TuTonka
  13. I would like to see a report computwe generated that gives you the assessment of the shift goig off on each patient you are assisgned. The off going nurse could add in an area specifically for changes and updates, any calls to MD and new orders. The next entry in assessment ....if nothing changed could have a button so to speak that the nurse could hit and that assessment charted. The program could include a way to make changes in an instant so the next report would reflect that. Programing doe this would save alot of time, improve accuracy and make more to for nurses to be a the pts bedside.. If we are to update healthcare lets make it nore accurate and quicker charting of information and continuing care for each shift. Sorry if I am a little off the tract of the thread but I wanted to state my idea so that maybe IT people would put on their thinking caps in that realm. Thats for (listening) reading this posy. TuTonka
  14. I agree with your tag line....too many facilities throw you in with minimum orientation via reading and put you on the floor to sink or swim...It is not safe, unethical or right by any means but it still happens even today. agency nurses are not treated as well as travel nurses at any timenor are they treated well bu the majority of staff nurses. TuTonka
  15. I read an article about asperagus. I do not know what if anything it can do,however , this article stated 2-4 TBSP of pureed organic asperagus has rid people of cancer. If can not hurt to try it. Use it two to three times a day. My prayers are with you. God bless. TuTonka
