How much time off do you get for Winter Break? I saw another school nurse post in another thread that she gets a week off and it got me curious...
I get two weeks off. Dec. 17th is the last student day. Dec. 18th is a staff work day. We are off Dec. 19th until Jan. 3rd. Come back Jan. 4th.

EXACTLY - there would be no break this time of year if it weren't for CHRISTMAS! Our school calendar designates the last two weeks of December as "winter break." It's so wintry here in South Texas this time of year we frequently have to turn the air conditioner on. It's Christmas Break! Christmas Break! Christmas Break! There, I kept saying it until everyone agrees with me now. I feel better.

Our last day is December 18; we come back on January 4th. Can't wait!
While I agree with you, I was trying to be.. "Politically correct." [emoji12]
We don't get any break in February. In fact, after this break, nothing again until Spring Break.

We get a whole week for Thanksgiving, 2 weeks for Christmas and then get a Thursday through Tuesday in Feb for Winter break. I LOVE this job! The winter break was built in snow days last year...of course it snowed us out after that break so we ended up going a week later in June :/ oh well still love it!
I really wish we had some sort of break in February or so. Come then, I am dying for a break again. We usually get a lot of snow days in Feb. so that's my reprieve. The kids get very anxious come Feb-March too and need a break. It's too long of a stretch for them to go without a break from Jan-April. [emoji53]

I grew up in areas of the country (dad was in the military) that did not have a February break. I have one now and boy do I love it!! It really breaks up the time from coming back after "Winter Holiday" Break until spring break.
That being said, our last day is Dec 22 and we come back January 4, which also happens to be my son's birthday. He's not impressed that we go back to school on his birthday. Sorry kid- if you were born in early February like you were SUPPOSED to be, we wouldn't have this issue!!
